Happy 247th birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps!

Thursday marks the 247th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, which was established on November 10th, 1775. 

Happy Birthday, Marines!

For 247 years, Marines have fought in any clime and place to defend our nation. Today, we reflect on the legacy of our Corps, and rededicate ourselves to fighting and winning the battles that lie ahead. #SemperFi

The Marine Corps released a statement marking the occasion, saying “Marines have fought in any clime and place to defend our nation…. And today… We reflect on the legacy of our corps… And rededicate ourselves to fighting and winning the battles that lie ahead.”

Commandant General David Berger released the annual video message in honor of our nation’s Marines.

Every day is a great day to be a Marine, but nothing beats a Marine Corps birthday. Happy Birthday to all #Marines. Semper Fidelis.@USMC, @USMCSgtMaj pic.twitter.com/AScscre6AO
