The New York Times has faced backlash for naming Senator-elect John Fetterman among this year’s most stylish people. The Pennsylvania Democrat is known for wearing very casual attire including hoodies, basketball shorts and sneakers

The hoodie-loving lawmaker made The New York Time’s list of the 93 “Most Stylish” people of 2022. On this year’s list, there are a few leftist favorites like Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Ma.), Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson of the Supreme Court and Mayor of New York City Eric Adams.

Social media users mocked The Times for including Fetterman in its 2022 list, including his own wife Gisele Fetterman who called for a recount.

No, not @JohnFetterman !! Recount!!! https://t.co/80mfknsnay

Senator John Hawkins (R-Utah) believes that there’s no way Fetterman could be considered fashionable. Hawkins said Fetterman has a casual appearance that suggests he spends the entire day hanging out in a convenience store or vape shop.

Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) humorously tweeted in response to the announcement, “I not only have the best hair in Congress, but I brought Carhartt to Capitol Hill four years ago.”

Total liberal bias, ⁦@nytimes⁩! I not only have the best hair in Congress, but I brought ⁦@Carhartt⁩ to Capitol Hill four years ago. https://t.co/iAYsteNJ1b

Other critics called the move insulting especially to other high-profile figures who made the exclusive list including the Late Queen Elizabeth.
