Chris Sununu: ‘Everybody Should Be Concerned’ With Trump’s Demand For ‘Full Immunity’ From Prosecution

New Hampshire Republican Governor Chris Sununu said on Sunday that voters should be concerned with a statement that former President Donald Trump made last week about presidents needing to have “total immunity” from criminal prosecution.

Sununu made the remarks during an interview with Kristen Welker on NBC News’s “Meet The Press” ahead of his state’s primary election on Tuesday.

The topic came up after the former president posted on Truth Social on Friday that a president “MUST HAVE FULL IMMUNITY” from criminal prosecution, “EVEN EVENTS THAT ‘CROSS THE LINE.'”

“Do you agree? Should the president have total immunity, even for things that crossed the line?” Welker asked.

“Of course not,” Sununu responded. “The amazing thing about that clip is he was dead serious. He wasn’t even making one of his ridiculous jokes. He was dead serious about that. And that should give everybody, I don’t care what political party you’re from, whether you’re an extreme conservative or socialist liberal, everybody should be concerned with that type of mentality going into the White House.”

Welker then pressed Sununu on his pledge to support Trump for president if he becomes the nominee.

“At the end of the day, most Republicans are gonna get behind the Republican nominee,” he said. “I’m hoping that it’s obviously Nikki Haley. This is how bad Joe Biden is, six months ago, Trump couldn’t beat Biden. This is how bad Joe Biden is. Inflation is crushing middle and low-income families across this country. We’re weak on the international stage. We haven’t secured our border, even Democrats have agreed that he’s completely incompetent and not on the ball there.”

“Joe Biden is so bad that even folks would get behind Donald Trump,” he continued.

Sununu said that if New Hampshire voters wanted to beat Trump, they needed to go to the ballot box.
