CNN Finally Fact-Checks Don Lemon, But Only After He’s Been Fired

In perhaps the least surprising news of all time, CNN’s public relations department issued a statement saying that now ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon did not tell the truth about how he was let go from the network Monday morning.

Lemon claimed that network executives never “directly” told him that he was being canned. CNN says that’s “inaccurate.”

“He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter,” CNN’s communications team tweeted.

If that’s true, Lemon is nothing if not consistent. Rarely were his days’ recaps on his prime time show — since canceled — ever accurate. Thanks to the team over at the Media Research Center, here’s a recap of Lemon’s “worst” moments:

Congrats @donlemon on a long career of lies and insanity on @CNN.

On Monday, Lemon said, “I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN. I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.”

He also claimed that he was effectively blindsided by his firing and was not “given any indication” that he would be let go. He blamed “larger issues at play,” without divulging more details.

Then he said, “They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best” — which should have been the biggest tell that his comment was “inaccurate.”

Of course, it’s a bit tricky as to who to trust here: The journalist who helped spread “disinformation” — as the Left loves to say — for so many years, or the network execs who turned “disinformation” into a business model.

Whatever the case, it sure would have been nice to have had CNN’s editorial oversight and instant fact-checking skills put to use when Lemon was still working there.
