Democrat Chuck Schumer Calls For Israel To ‘De-Escalate’ After Hezbollah Kills 12 Children

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called on Israel to “de-escalate” over the weekend after an unprovoked attack from Hezbollah, an Islamic terrorist group backed by Iran, killed 12 children inside of Israel.

Schumer made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation” while talking about the strikes that were launched from Lebanese soil.

“We know that Iran, through its surrogates, Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, is really the real evil in this area,” Schumer said. “And Israel has every right to defend itself against Hezbollah, like they do against Hamas. It’s sort of – it shows you how bad Iran and its surrogates are. These were Arab kids they shot out. They don’t care – they sent missiles at. And they don’t even care who that is.”

“But having said that, I don’t think anyone wants a wider war,” he added. “So I hope there are moves to de-escalate.”

Schumer said that he refused to shake Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s hand while he was in the U.S. last week because he had “serious disagreements” with Israel’s war against the genocidal Hamas terrorists who launched the unprecedented October 7 attack last year.
