He followed that with a defense of President Joe Biden, a series of attacks on Trump, and claims that Vice President Kamala Harris was the right person to take on the presidency.

Joe Concha noted the optics of a second late night and of having Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff speak while his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, was not even present in the building — instead, she and Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) were headlining a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama claimed that “hope is making a comeback” as she took the stage at the DNC — and said that until recently, she had “mourned” the loss of that hope.

Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) told the audience to trust him on the economy rather than former President Donald Trump, saying, “Take it from an actual billionaire, Trump is only rich in one thing: stupidity.”
But as The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles quickly pointed out, Trump actually did have a significant edge over Pritzker in terms of net worth.

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) called former President Donald Trump “a five-time draft-dodging coward” — and then endorsed a ticket that includes a man who has repeatedly embellished his own military service to suggest he saw combat when he did not.
After several speakers including Bernie Sanders called for an end to the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas terrorists — most of whom also called for the release of the hostages still being held by Hamas — Lauren Suriel asked the obvious question: “Is anyone at the #DNC going to mention why this horrific war in Gaza started or which side is refusing to accept a ceasefire?”

CNN’s Van Jones praised Vice President Kamala Harris for putting the “PARTY back int he Democratic Party” but made no mention of the fact that two days into the convention that will culminate with her official nomination for the presidency, there was still no “policy” section on her campaign website.

Self-described socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) thanked President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their efforts to push far-left “progressive” policies and made the case that Harris — who was further left than Sanders when she served in the U.S. Senate — would continue to drive the United States in that direction.

Regular host of ABC’s “The View” Ana Navarro took the stage and claimed that former President Donald Trump – who has joked about being “a dictator, but only on day one” while he rescinded Biden’s executive actions — would be a communist dictator if reelected. She then explained that Harris — who has promised Soviet-style price controls and a 25% tax un unrealized capital gains — was definitely “not a communist.”

Fox News’ Mary Katharine Ham handicapped the event going into the second night, putting things in perspective and highlighting just how obvious it was that the media was not interested in applying any scrutiny to Vice President and de facto Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
“I want to learn about both candidates. Just to level-set, I’m at the Democratic convention for longer than Biden,” she pointed out, referencing the fact that President Joe Biden had only been on hand for his speech at the tail end of the first night and adding, “And in the last two days, I’ve taken more questions than Harris. I feel like she should be ahead of me in this way. But look, arguably the press should be more critical of her because she got into the race so late, she is very undefined. When you interview independent voters, they say, ‘We don’t know her that well.'”

Tuesday night kicked off with delegate roll calls, and actor Sean Astin — who played the title role in the Notre Dame football movie “Rudy” — made an appearance to speak for Indiana. As he began speaking, the crowd broke out in chants of “Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!”

The Democrats are gearing up for night two of their national convention in Chicago, and after the first night — which they concluded by ousting President Joe Biden from prime time on top of ousting him from the 2024 presidential ticket — it’s anybody’s guess how things are likely to go.
What’s happening?
After the disastrous first night, which culminated in Biden — who has said he’s not his best after 8pm — shouting angrily as he delivered a speech filled with exaggerations and outright lies after not taking the stage until 11:26 p.m., organizers are reportedly pulling out all the stops to make sure that things run more smoothly on Tuesday. Musician James Taylor’s performance was also a casualty of the scheduling mishaps on Monday.
In addition, after keffiyeh-clad anti-Israel protesters broke through one perimeter fence on Monday, another layer of fencing was added to protect convention attendees.
