Jewish Woman Stabbed At Her Home In France, Swastika Painted On Her Door

A Jewish woman was rushed to the hospital on Saturday in the French city of Lyon after a man came to her home, stabbed her, and painted a swastika on her door.

A man “dressed in dark clothing and with a concealed face” knocked on the woman’s door around 1 p.m. local time and proceeded to stab her multiple times in the abdomen when she answered, according to a report from The Jerusalem Post.

She was rushed to the emergency room with what were described as “serious” injuries.

The woman, in her thirties, had a mezuzah at her doorway, which is a doorpost that is typically fixed at the entrance of Jewish people’s homes that reminds them of their covenant with God.

A swastika was found graffitied on the woman’s door after the attack, leading the public prosecutor’s office to view the attack as being potentially motivated by anti-Semitism.

Lyon Mayor Gregory Doucet posted on X, “Such an act of violence is unthinkable. I offer all my support to the victim and her relatives.”

“Antisemitism is currently inflicting brutality not just in Israel, but regrettably across the entire Jewish world,” said Yaakov Hagoel, Chairman of the World Zionist Organization. “The Jewish people have endured persecutions, pogroms, and the Holocaust. We have come out of these attempts to annihilate us only stronger. Even in these times, we will continue to unite in our strength and demonstrate to the world that we cannot be broken. The nation of Israel lives on, strong and united.”

Anti-Semitic attacks have exploded worldwide after an unprecedented Islamic terrorist attack was carried out against Israel last month when more than 3,000 Hamas terrorists stormed into the country and murdered 1,400 Israelis, wounded 5,300, and kidnapped more than 240.

Late last week, two Moldovan nationals who were illegally in France were arrested in Paris after they painted Stars of David on homes of Jewish people. They admitted to authorities that they were acting on the orders of someone from inside Russia, who French officials have not named. Authorities immediately expelled both individuals from the country.
