Marvel Star In Intensive Care, Facing Multiple Surgeries After Snowplow Accident

“Avengers” star Jeremy Renner remains in intensive care and may be facing multiple surgeries following an accident involving a snow plow at his home in Reno, Nevada.

The actor and his family provided an updated statement to People via a spokesperson on Monday evening: “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”

“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans,”

George Pennacchio, the self-described “entertainment guru” at ABC News affiliate ABC7, shared the update via Twitter on Monday evening, noting that Renner had already undergone at least one surgery.

CNN reported that “The Hurt Locker” actor had already undergone at least two surgeries to address what one source said were “extensive” injuries.

Renner was reportedly attempting to clear a path from his house to the road when the Snowcat he was using ran over his leg. His neighbor, who happen’s to be a doctor, was able to assist the actor until paramedics arrived on the scene by putting on a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

Police also towed the Snowcat, treating the property as a crime scene — in part because, as entertainment website TMZ reported, the plow has a number of safety features that should have prevented it from rolling over.

Renner’s publicist confirmed the accident’s occurrence early on Monday, saying, “As of now, we can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather related accident while plowing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care.”

All reports so far have indicated that the 51-year-old two-time Oscar nominee — “The Hurt Locker,” 2008, and “The Town,” 2010 — was the only one involved in the accident.
