The House Oversight Committee has reportedly issued subpoenas to several banks to get the financial records of some of the Biden familyās associates.
The subpoenas come as part of Republicansā investigations into the business dealings of President Joe Bidenās family and associates.Ā Federal prosecutors are investigating Hunter Biden over his foreign business dealings in countries such as China and Ukraine, tax affairs, and more.
The committee, led by Chairman James Comer (R-KY), subpoenaed Bank of America, Cathay Bank, JPMorgan Chase, and HSBC USA N.A., Fox News reported.
The committee also reportedly subpoenaed a former business associate of Hunter Biden, Mervyn Yan, for his financial records.
Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) disclosed the subpoenas, claiming that Republicans were conducting the āprobe behind a veil of secrecy runs counter to the Committeeās traditional commitment to transparency and raises serious questions about the integrity of the investigation.ā
Comer slammed Raskin for revealing the subpoenas, telling Fox News that Raskin was effectively trying to sabotage the investigation.
