Sophie Turner Drops Lawsuit Against Joe Jonas For ‘Wrongful Retention’ Of Their Kids

“Game Of Thrones” star Sophie Turner has dropped her claims against ex-Joe Jonas for “wrongful retention” of their two kids amid their divorce.

A U.S. judge agreed on Wednesday to dismiss the filing made in September 2023 by the 27-year-old actress after both Turner and the pop singer signed a parenting agreement for their two daughters, approved recently by a U.K. judge, according to documents obtained by People magazine.

The two stars gave their consent to have the claim dismissed “with prejudice, and without attorneys’ fees, expenses, costs and/or disbursements awarded to either party” following the approval of their custody agreement by the U.K. judge, the outlet noted.

Last September, Turner filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan court demanding that the former couple’s two children be returned to England. The document asked for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained” for what is being called “wrongful retention,” which began September 20. The outlet noted at the time that Turner referred to England as their “forever home” in late 2022.

Turner also alleged at the time that, “the Father has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

Following the filing, Jonas hit back and disputed her claims. At the time, he said he believed the two had come to an agreement as to where their children would reside.

On September 25, 2023, an interim custody agreement was reached, which would have their daughters raised in New York City. The following month, a temporary custody agreement was reached, the outlet noted.

The two released a statement at the time that read, “After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents.”

Turner and Jonas started dating in 2016 and finally tied the knot in 2019. In 2020 and again in 2022, the pair welcomed a daughter to the world. Born in the United States, both of their two girls have American and British citizenship, The New York Times noted.

In September 2023, the superstars announced their split after four years of marriage, as previously reported

“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the statement read.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the statement concluded.
