Tim Walz’s 2005 Campaign Website Featured An Article Claiming The Candidate Was A ‘War Vet’

During his first congressional run in 2005, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s campaign website featured an article touting the candidate as a “war vet.”

The article, from Roll Call, was headlined “Minnesota Skinny: Democrats Fretting About Rowley, Touting War Vet.” The website shared other headlines that implied Walz had deployed to Iraq, including “After Hackett’s Close Call, Iraq War Veterans Are in Demand” and “Other Iraq War Veterans Running.”

Walz has long come under fire for misconstruing his military service record. Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign brought the issue back into the spotlight this week when it shared a video of Harris’ running mate advocating gun control, saying, “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at.”

Walz did not deploy to Iraq, or Afghanistan, but was stationed in Italy.

Chris Manning, who, like Walz, served in the National Guard, told The Daily Wire that the term “war vet” should never be used for someone who was not deployed to a combat zone.

“If you don’t go to war you are not a war veteran,” Manning said. “Being a security guard at an airbase in Italy is not going to war, it isn’t a combat tour.”

“Walz is not a war veteran and it is dishonest for him to claim he is,” Manning added.

Walz’s 2006 campaign website listed “Veterans’ issues” as its top priority, and noted that Walz felt a special connection to the issue because of his service.

“As a veteran of the Army National Guard, Command Sergeant Major Walz is deeply concerned about those veterans that are already in the VA system, as well as the high number of military personnel that will be classified as veterans in the near future,” the website reads.

The Minnesota National Guard said Walz’s claim to have retired as a Command Sergeant Major is false, saying he retired as a master sergeant “in 2005 for benefit purposes because he did not complete additional coursework at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.” He did not complete the course because he retired in May 2005, after his battalion received notice that it might be deployed to Iraq — leading many to suspect Walz retired in order to avoid seeing combat.

Walz acknowledged that he expected his campaign to be deployed to Iraq in a campaign press release in March 2005.

Trump Walks Toward The Fire. Kamala Hides In The Basement.

On Thursday, Donald Trump proved that he was perfectly willing to go out in front of a wildly adversarial press.

He tried to reset the table, and he was successful because the focus in this campaign cannot be one of those random Festivus grievances that Trump has against Brian Kemp in Georgia. And it cannot be questions about Kamala Harris’ blackness or anything of the like.

It must be about Harris’ campaign as the most Left-wing ticket in the history of American politics.

Trump’s task yesterday was twofold. His first task was to demonstrate he is willing to take questions in a way Harris is not, which he did. He went to the National Association of Black Journalists last week, and he did a long interview with people who hate his guts. His second task was to attack Harris on her record. He did that, warning about economic insecurity, gangs on the street, countries that have targeted us, while adding that he is a common-sense person who wants low taxes, solid borders, and a strong military.

“She hasn’t done an interview,” he pointed out. “She can’t do an interview. She’s barely competent, and she can’t do an interview. I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight.”

We have to update our calendar because it is now day 20 of Kamala Harris taking zero adversarial questions since becoming the Democratic nominee. She is running away from reporters. She is turning down Trump’s request for additional debates. But don’t worry, she is so brilliant. She is so with it, so intelligent, and so convincing.

Harris continues to run a basement campaign that is punctuated by going to large rallies and reading from a teleprompter as Tim Walz gives a strange, enthusiastic dance routine, which is really off-putting to those of us who still have a shred of sanity left.

WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show

You just feel like you’re being gaslit all the time by the Harris-Walz campaign because she went from being one of the most unpopular figures in Democratic politics to a magical figure of joy, light, and excitement. Then, they trot out this sixty-year-old doofus to dance around on stage while talking about how he is a moderate who only loves abortion and loves trans.

The most noteworthy point Trump made is that he doesn’t just want one debate with Harris; he wants three debates with Harris.

That was good news. It’s what we’ve been encouraging him on the show to do. He needs to debate because the media are absolutely not going to do their job. They’re going to run screaming away from their job.

Then, Harris came forth and explained she would not be doing three debates on three separate networks; she would only agree to the debate that Joe Biden negotiated with Trump back when Biden was the candidate. That was before she shivved Biden in the back and took his nomination.

The little game Harris is playing is not to accept any further debates until they do the debate on September 10.

Trump should say, “I’m not going to do the September 10 debate unless you’re willing to do all three because the reality is the American people don’t know you. You’re hiding from the media; you’re hiding from questions. You’re actually a dummy when you get off the teleprompter.”

Of course, that’s been true for Kamala Harris her entire lifetime.

Instead, Harris is trying to refuse other debates beyond September 10 because she thinks she’ll do well enough in that debate to put questions to bed about her candidacy, and then she won’t have to answer any more questions.

She did deign to tell the press yesterday she would be scheduling an interview, maybe, before the end of the month.

Let’s take a look at the calendar here. It appears to me, unless all my information and the entire calendar system is somehow false, that today is Friday, August 9. I noticed the month of August actually has many days in it. A lot of days. In fact, it has 31 days in it, unless I am sadly mistaken.

Yet she wants to do one interview before the end of the month. Are you kidding me?

I have a question for all you professional journalists since you might want to put a little pressure on the Harris-Walz campaign to answer a question, some questions, any questions.

You might want to ask her the very obvious questions of the campaign: Why won’t you do a presser? Why won’t you do an interview? Why are you running away from any question at all? Why are you only committing to one debate? A debate, by the way, that you didn’t negotiate with Trump. Your boss negotiated it with Trump before you took him out back and shot him like Old Yeller.

Where is the media?

We know the answer. The media are in her colon. That’s what the media are. It’s not just Donald Trump and JD Vance against Harris and Walz. It’s them against the entire legacy media because the minute that Biden went down, they clicked back into place and suddenly, like a switch, they were enthusiastic about Harris. So much excitement, so much joy!

Harris is the one who is saying she only wants one debate, the debate that was preset with Biden. Harris has backed off every position she ever held, but she does not do that herself; she has her surrogates do it. She won’t do an interview to answer for any of those changes. She can’t answer any questions, and she won’t answer any questions.

Trump walks toward the fire.

Harris is a political coward.
