First lady Jill Biden was slammed on social media Friday afternoon after she participated in the first cabinet meeting that the Biden-Harris administration has held in nearly a full year.

President Joe Biden introduced Jill to the meeting where she was speaking about a White House initiative.

“Here and across previous administrations, first ladies have attended these meetings for specific reasons,” he said. “This is the first time Jill has joined us, and it goes to show how important the issue is, which she is about to speak to.”

“It’s all yours, kid,” he said in passing the torch off to his wife.

Former Fox News host Andrea Tantaros posted on X: “I’m unsure which part is more disturbing. 1. That the White House held its first Cabinet meeting in a year; or… 2. Jill Biden is leading the first White House Cabinet meeting in a year.”

“She cannot lead a presidential Cabinet meeting,” she added. “She doesn’t hold a Security Clearance.”

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy posted on X: “The same number of people have voted for Jill Biden to be President as have voted for Kamala: zero. Their new rule appears to be: the fewer votes you’ve earned, the more power you get to exercise.”

“Oh neat, an unelected person married to the mostly incapacitated elected president is overseeing the first Cabinet meeting in forever,” said commentator Mary Katharine Ham. “Does anyone have any questions about this?”

Media analyst Joe Concha slammed MSNBC’s characterization of the event. “Of course, this is how MSNBC characterizes the First Lady running a cabinet meeting,” he said. “If this was Melania Trump, these same ‘reporters’ would melt into an unrecognizable pile of goo…”

“She’s officially Edith Wilson,” added columnist Marc Thiessen. “She is not elected, has no official position, is not even a government employee. WTH is she doing running a cabinet meeting?”

“Who is running the country?” asked Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL).

Vice President Kamala Harris‘ husband, Doug Emhoff, claimed during an interview this week that it was unfair for people to criticize his wife’s performance over the last three and a half years because she was not the president.

Emhoff made the remarks during a softball ABC News interview Friday morning on “Good Morning America,” which came just days after the network’s debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump that was extremely biased against the Republican nominee.

Co-anchor Michael Strahan asked Emhoff if he thought it was fair that his wife was being criticized for the numerous failings of the administration, even though she was named the border czar, bragged about being the last person in the room on Afghanistan, and was the tie-breaking vote on passing the American Rescue Plan—the legislation that triggered the inflation crisis.

“She’s the vice president, not the president. The vice president is there as part of the administration, not leading the administration,” he claimed. “So as president, she’s gonna be able to put forth her policies and plans and effectuate those.”

The Trump campaign fired back at Emhoff over the remarks, posting on X: “Second Gentleperson ‘Doug’: Kamala bears no responsibility for the Biden-Harris failures because she’s only the second most powerful person in the country, not the first.”

“Joe Biden himself has admitted that Kamala plays an enormous role in his failed administration,” the campaign said. “Kamala brags about being ‘the last person in the room’ on the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal decision. She absolutely owns every failure of the Biden-Harris administration.”
