Cruz: Harris Believes Free Speech Is ‘A Privilege That She Can Revoke’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned this week that past remarks from Vice President Kamala Harris indicate that she would be a serious threat to America’s First Amendment rights if elected as president.

Cruz made the remarks during his “Verdict” podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while talking about video clips that have recently gone viral that highlight remarks from Harris’ 2019 presidential campaign where she advocated clamping down on free speech by going after social media companies for not censoring content.

“Kamala has a long, long history of calling for censorship, calling for silencing anyone who disagrees with her, of wanting to use government power to silence her critics,” Cruz said. “If Kamala Harris becomes president, I predict now she will try to muzzle X. She will try to ban X. She wants to follow Brazil’s path and ban X. She wants to use government power to go after big tech and force them to be her censors.”

Cruz said that Harris shows more disdain for the First Amendment than any other presidential candidate in more than two centuries.

“The last time we had a presidential candidate with this antipathy was John Adams, our second president, who had enforced the Alien and Sedition Acts and used them to persecute his political opponents,” he said. “It’s been two centuries since that has happened since then, and Kamala Harris displays an unprecedented willingness to use government power to silence you.”

He noted that Harris believes that free speech is “merely a privilege and a privilege that she, as the dictator, can revoke if you dare disagree with her.”

“It is not a privilege,” he said. “The First Amendment says Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. It’s not a privilege. It is a right protected in the Bill of Rights.”

Kamala Harris pledged to weaponize the DOJ even more and use it to attack platforms for free speech like X.

Maher Rips Leftists For Attacking RFK Jr.’s Wife: ‘Even The Mafia Doesn’t Do That’

Liberal comedian Bill Maher slammed the political Left this week for attacking Cheryl Hines, the wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., over her husband’s decision to endorse Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Maher made the remarks Friday evening on his HBO show “Real Time” while discussing the attacks that the actress has faced since her husband made the endorsement late last month.

“His wife is Cheryl Hines, who Larry David was quoted as describing as ‘the best person I ever met, the one person in Hollywood who doesn’t have a single enemy,'” Maher said.

“Well now she does, because she didn’t throw her husband under the bus when her husband made a decision about something which she’s made plain she disagrees with, but that didn’t satisfy the obnoxious posers on the aforementioned far-Left.”

He noted that Hines was subjected to thousands of harassing posts on social media attacking her for not speaking out against her husband.

“You want to know why I have a bug up my a** about the Left more than I used to?” he asked. “It’s s*** like this. There’s an ugliness they never used to have. The Liberals I grew up respecting, none of them are like this. Going after the wife? Even the mafia doesn’t do that.”

“There’s a lot of people these days who I call liberals in theory,” he continued. “In theory, they hate bullying, terrible. In practice, their attitude is, it’s not bullying when I stick your head in the toilet. In theory, liberals are compassionate. In practice, this guy can’t even understand one of the most basic dilemmas common to all humans, that when you’re married, sometimes you have to swallow some s***.”
