Harris Uses Walz To Swipe At Vance: ‘Varsity Team And The JV Squad’

Vice President Kamala Harris contrasted on Tuesday her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, to former President Donald Trump‘s pick, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

A rally in Philadelphia served as the first time the public got a chance to see Harris appear with Walz as partners in the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket for the 2024 election.

“He really does shine a light on a brighter future that we can build together. In his state, he has been a model chief executive,” Harris declared.

“With his experience,” she added, Walz would be ready on “day one” to serve in the White House starting next January.

After the audience cheered, Harris delivered a line that alluded to Walz being a former high school football coach.

“When you compare [Tim Walz’s] resume — shall we? — to Trump’s running mate, well, some might say it’s like a matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad,” Harris said.

Harris said voters “each face a question, what kind of country do we want to live in: a country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law; or a country of chaos, fear, and hate?”

“And here’s the beauty of our democracy,” she added. “We each have the power to answer that question. We each have the power to answer that question. The power is with the people!”

Walz edged out Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to become Harris’ VP pick.

Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign press secretary, released a statement dubbing Walz “a dangerously liberal extremist” who tried to reshape Minnesota “in the image of” deep-blue California.

She knocked Walz for “proposing his own carbon-free agenda,” “suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars,” and “embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote.”

Vance explained to reporters how he believes that Harris picking Walz showed how “radical” and out of touch the vice president is with struggling Americans.

He said they make an “interesting tag team” because Walz “allowed rioters to burn down Minneapolis in the summer of 2020” and Harris “helped bail them out of jail.”

Rapper Machine Gun Kelly Says He’s Been Sober For A Year, Credits Megan Fox With Helping Him

Rapper Machine Gun Kelly revealed that he’s “completely sober from everything” and credited his girlfriend actress Megan Fox with helping make it happen.

Speaking on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast, the 34-year-old singer said that he’s been sober for over a year now after he secretly entered a rehab facility in 2023, something only those very closest to him knew, Billboard magazine reported.

“I’m completely sober from everything. I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t drank since last August,” the rapper — born Colson Baker — said. “Megan has for sure been extremely helpful in dealing with the kind of psychological withdrawals that come with [sobriety].”

“I didn’t tell anybody outside of the [people] closest to me,” he added of entering a rehab facility. “That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body, show where this anger is coming from, and methods to quell it.”

Baker said he met with psychiatrists and therapists before he accepted his “condition,” admitting he “went the f*** off” with drugs in his 20s.

“It’s a constant tightrope walk,” MGK said of sobriety. “I continue to embrace that this journey is gonna be hard for me, but I accept it and forgive myself. I’m also really hard on myself, very self-deprecating.”

“I love that I’m clear when I look at the person I love,” Baker continued. “I’m really happy that I’m clear when my daughter [Casie] and I are having our conversations and I’m coming from a place of being centered and holding space for what a child needs from their parent, which is patience and advice.”

Kelly and Fox made headlines in January 2022 when the actress announced the two were engaged. A year later, rumors surfaced that the two were reportedly “on a break” following cheating rumors about the rapper and their wedding plans were reportedly stalled, as previously reported.

“They are very hot and cold,” a source told US Weekly at the time. “They have stalled wedding planning to work on their issues.”

The “Transformers” star later took to social media and shut down cheating rumors as being the cause of their troubles.

“There has been no third party interference in this relationship of any kind,” Fox wrote on Instagram. “That includes, but is not limited to… actual humans, DMs, AI bots or succubus demons.”

“While I do hate to rob you of running random baseless news stories that would have been much more accurately written by ChatGPT, you need to let this story die and leave all of these innocent people alone now,” she added.

Kelly has a daughter from a previous relationship. Fox was previously married to actor Brian Austin Green, and the two share three children. Their divorce was finalized in 2022.
