Leftists Protest DeSantis At Jacksonville Prayer Vigil, Black Democrat Councilmember Slaps Back: ‘A Bullet Don’t Know A Party’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis attended a prayer vigil in Jacksonville on Sunday after an assailant murdered three black people at a Dollar General store in what authorities have said was an act that was racially motivated.

“Councilwoman, I gotcha, don’t worry about it,” DeSantis said to Democrat Councilmember Ju’Coby Pittman. “We’ve already been looking to identify funds to be able to help one, make sure there’s adequate security for Edward Waters College. We are not going to allow these institutions to be targeted by people.”

A lot of people clapped for DeSantis while a small number in the audience booed and protested the governor as he spoke.

Pittman then took the microphone and addressed the agitators head-on.

“Let me tell, we putting parties aside, because it ain’t about parties today,” she said. “A bullet don’t know a party. So, don’t get me started.”

“If the governor wanted to come here, and he bringing gifts to my community, y’all know I’m taking the gifts, because we’ve been through enough already,” she continued. “And I don’t want to go through no more. Now y’all be quiet just a minute and let the governor say what he gonna say.”

DeSantis then took back control of the event, saying that his office has already identified funds from the state of Florida to beef up security in the area and help the families of the victims.

“We are not going to let people be targeted based on their race,” he said. “We are going to stand up and we are going to do what we need to do to make sure that evil does not triumph in the state of Florida.”

DeSantis noted that his administration has worked to protect Jewish schools from anti-Semitic violence and that he will be working equally to provide the same protection to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Tulsi Gabbard Torches Biden Over Trump Prosecution: ‘The Death Rattle Of Any Democracy’

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who recently left the Democratic Party and declared herself an independent, torched President Joe Biden over the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

Gabbard made the comments during a Friday appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” arguing that Biden was using the federal government to take out his primary political opponent.

“A death rattle of any democracy is when a sitting president uses that state security apparatus to go after political opponents and cover up lies and crimes committed by himself or his family. Biden is doing that now,” she said. “His actions make it clear he believes himself to be not the enforcer of the rule of law but the exception to it.”

“Let’s start with the vision that our founders had for this country, which is that we would be a nation of laws, not of men,” she told host Sean Hannity. “But every single day we see more and more evidence coming out about how President Biden and his administration are politicizing the Department of Justice to serve their own personal and political interests ahead of the interests of the country.”

“We can recognize that they are directly and intentionally undermining that very foundation of our democracy which is the rule of law,” Gabbard continued.

The former congresswoman — who ran for president in 2020 — went on to lay out how exactly the Biden administration was undermining the system: first, they were going directly after former President Trump and his supporters; and second, they were taking actions to insulate and protect themselves, specifically Joe Biden and his embattled son Hunter Biden.

“The American people need to recognize very clearly what is happening here, the threat to our democracy and we have to make the decision to put a stop to this, to not allow this to go on,” she added. “Because otherwise, we’ll find ourselves in a situation in the United States of America where this is now the new norm. Whatever party becomes the party in power will say,  ‘Hey, look, the last guy did this. We can use the power of law enforcement, we can use our Department of Justice to go after political opponents.”
