Paramore Singer Cancels Remaining Tour Dates, Gives Health Update: ‘I Physically Cannot Go On’

The lead singer of Paramore, Hayley Williams, said she’s canceling the remainder of the band’s tour as she battles an illness.

The band was on the U.S. portion of the “This is Why” tour when Williams developed a lung infection and had to postpone four shows. Now the Paramore singer says her doctor has advised that she take a longer time to rest and recover.

“After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong,” Williams said in a statement posted to the band’s Instagram page.

“I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations. After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing that it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you.”

“I’m now risking long term damage and I need to pay attention to my body,” the singer continued in her statement. “With that in mind and with a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in Portland and Salt Lake City.”

She apologized to fans and assured them they would get refunds for the cost of tickets.

“I physically cannot go on,” Williams wrote. “I know this isn’t great news for anyone. Thank you so much for your continued support.”

The 34-year-old performer posted in July about how she was battling an illness.

“As you know, we postponed a handful of dates due to illness. We kick back up Saturday in Tulsa (!!!) after a week of misery, sadness, and bellyfuls of antibiotics and steroids,” she shared. “For the record, we did not have food poisoning or a band-wide sh** fest.”

“In all seriousness, this past week has been really tough,” Williams wrote. “Nobody would know this but I started getting sick in Houston (non-contagious) and muscled it all the way through LA. Adrenaline is a wonder! But by the time the excitement and nerves from all the LA shenanigans wore off, my body just gave out.”
