Is Steven Avery Directing Supporters To Tank Candace Owens’ ‘Convicting A Murderer’ Review Score?

It seems Steven Avery himself, from behind bars, may be directing supporters to tank the Rotten Tomatoes’ audience review score of Daily Wire host Candace Owens’ docuseries “Convicting a Murderer” (CAM).

Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, were convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach back in 2007. The pair are featured in Netflix’s limited series “Making a Murderer” (MAM), garnering attention from celebrities and others online contending Avery is innocent. Owens’ “CAM” tells the other side of the Avery case, specifically sharing information omitted or arguably manipulated within “MAM.”

“IMPORTANT: Steven is asking for all his supporters to flood Rotten Tomatoes and give ‘Convicting a Murderer’ a bad review,” reads a post on the Facebook group called “Steven Avery is INNOCENT.” “This garbage and vitriol is NOT TRUE and we need our community to step up and let Candance [sic] Owens know that STEVEN AVERY IS INNOCENT!”

The Facebook post, issued by the group’s administrator on Friday night, then links to the Rotten Tomatoes review page of “CAM.” It also tags “everyone” in the group, meaning the 36,200-plus members of the group would get a notification about the post.

Before the post, “CAM” was boasting an average review score in the 90s, but is now seeing a drop in that score, down to a 73% score by Saturday afternoon. Notably, it was just hours after this Facebook post was issued that “CAM” was flooded with bad reviews.

The “Steven Avery is INNOCENT” Facebook group routinely claims to have contact with Avery from prison. In numerous posts, random supporters of Avery are awarded a prize supposedly from Avery himself. One “top contributor” of the group is a woman named Sandy Greenman; she’s Avery’s ex-girlfriend and told Newsweek in 2020 that she speaks to the convict nearly every day. Greenman also posts photos of herself visiting Avery in prison. Moreover, in an apparent recording of Avery from March, the convict talks about being relayed everyone’s messages on his “site;” the “Steven Avery is INNOCENT” Facebook group has claimed credit here, suggesting Avery is referring to their Facebook group.

Additionally, it seems Avery is well aware of The Daily Wire’s “CAM” docuseries, seemingly telling supporters in an online recording, which was posted four months ago, to refrain from watching the “garbage” content.

In the recording, Avery says his brother Chuck has mentioned “this new documentary,” seemingly referring to “CAM,” and states, “nobody should watch that. … It’s garbage, straight up garbage, there’s a whole bunch of lies.”

Texas Senate Votes To Acquit Attorney General Ken Paxton Of All Charges

The Texas Senate voted on Saturday to acquit suspended attorney general Ken Paxton of all charges leveled against him after the state House impeached him back in May.

Paxton has been on trial in the Texas Senate for two weeks over allegations of corruption and abuse of public office. The House team responsible for prosecuting the case against the attorney general alleged Paxton did favors for Austin real estate developer and campaign backer Nate Paul as Paul was being investigated by the FBI.

Paxton stood trial on 16 articles of impeachment that each required a two-thirds majority to pass in a Republican-controlled chamber. He was not convicted on any of the charges brought against him.

Attorney Tony Buzbee defended Paxton general during the trial, which Paxton was largely absent from except for the opening and closing arguments. Buzbee said that the case against Paxton was being pushed for political reasons.

“This is a political trial,” Buzbee said, according to the Associated Press. “I would suggest to you it’s a political witch hunt.”

The impeachment managers alleged that Paxton accepted bribes from Paul, one in the form of an agreement to hire Paxton’s alleged mistress. Paul also allegedly renovated Paxton’s home. In exchange, Paxton allegedly aided Paul when he was under investigation by the FBI.

Prosecutors brought in various former members of Paxton’s office and staff to testify against the attorney general. Several former prosecutors who worked for the attorney general reported Paxton to the FBI in 2020 over the attorney general’s connections with Paul.

“He hasn’t even bothered to be here for the whole trial,” Republican state Rep. Andrew Murr said in the trial’s final day. “Clearly he thinks he might get away with this.”

Paxton’s alleged mistress, Laura Olson, was expected to testify on Wednesday, and was one of the most anticipated voices of the trial. She arrived at the Capitol on Wednesday during the trial, but Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who oversaw the trial, announced that Olson was “unavailable to testify” in a statement that he said both sides had agreed upon.

Paxton’s wife, Republican state Sen. Angela Paxton, watched the trial from her seat in the chamber but was barred from participating and voting in the verdict because of her conflict of interest.
