Cop Shooting Suspect Bailed Out By Super Bowl Winning Former Running Back Working As For-Hire Driver: Report

A suspect accused of shooting a New York City police officer who had his bond paid by a former NFL running back is now working as a for-hire driver, according to a new report.

The New York Post reported that Nelson Pizarro, who is accused of shooting a cop during a drug search, has taken on a new gig as a livery driver after being bailed out of jail by former Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant.

After 11 months in jail for allegedly shooting Detective Dominick Libretti in January 2022, Pizarro was let out in December. Police sources told the Post that Pizarro and Grant were “close friends” and that Pizarro was given approval to work as a livery driver after initially being put on house arrest.

Sources added that Pizarro, who has former gun-related and drug convictions, had driven not far from Libretti’s home.

“He’s just got free rein of all the boroughs,” a law enforcement source said. “So there’s pretty much no repercussions for shooting a cop.”

Libretti, who was shot in the leg during the drug raid, said that he was shocked when he learned about Pizarro’s reported gig. Libretti spent about a week in the hospital after the shooting and he had reconstructive shooting.

“How do you not tell me that this guy’s out driving on the freeway,” Libretti reportedly said. “It’s just a slap in the face to the whole job.”

Grant, who won a Super Bowl with the Packers in 2011, grew up in Rockland County New York before attending the University of Notre Dame. He was injured for the majority of the Packers’ 2011 Super Bowl year, but still got a ring as part of the team.

Pizarro was charged with first-degree attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder of a police officer, criminal possession of a firearm, and attempted assault with a weapon.

He said that he believed his house was being broken into during the police operation. “I thought I was getting robbed,” he reportedly said. “Is the cop going to be OK?”

Lance Lazzaro, who is representing Pizarro, said that the bail had been set too high.

Only one side of the story has been told so far,” he said. “The bail should never have been that high.”

Biden Absent As World Leaders Gather To Attend Historic Coronation Of King Charles III

President Joe Biden was noticeably absent as world leaders gathered to attend the coronation of Charles III as the king of the United Kingdom on Saturday, the first coronation ceremony since 1953.

During the ceremony that took place at Westminster Abbey in London, the 74-year-old Charles promised to serve the British people and uphold the Church of England. Charles’ wife, Camilla, was crowned queen during the historic ceremony.

“I come not to be served, but to serve,” Charles said before the archbishop of Canterbury put St. Edward’d Crown, made in 1661, on his head.

“Stand firm, and hold fast from henceforth this seat of royal dignity, which is yours by the authority of Almighty God. May that same God, whose throne endures forever, establish your throne in righteousness, that it may stand fast for evermore,” said Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby during the crowning.

There was no legal requirement for the coronation as Charles automatically became king when Queen Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022. The ceremony still took place as a religious ritual and served as a formal confirmation of Charles’ role as head of state and titular head of the Church of England.

During the ceremony, Charles swore on a Bible the Accession Declaration Oath, a promise to maintain the Protestant claim to the throne.

“I Charles do solemnly and sincerely in the presence of God profess, testify, and declare that I am a faithful Protestant and that I will, according to the true intent of the enactments which secure the Protestant succession to the Throne, uphold and maintain the said enactments to the best of my powers according to law,” Charles said.

The oil used to anoint Charles was made with olives from the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the place where Jesus Christ prayed before his crucifixion.

Prince William, son of Charles, was given the opportunity to promise his loyalty during the ceremony.  “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God,” he said.

Controversial royal figures Prince Harry and Prince Andrew were also in attendance at the ceremony but did not have speaking roles.

There were roughly 8,000 people in attendance at the ceremony, which was attended by many world leaders with the notable absence of President Joe Biden though first lady Jill Biden was in attendance.

The last British coronation occurred on June 2, 1953, when Charles’ late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, began her record-breaking 70-year reign. President Dwight Eisenhower did not attend her coronation, instead opting to send other representatives from the U.S.
