Disneyland Will Host First Ever Pride Nite During ‘After Dark’ Series

Disneyland announced late last week that the California-based theme park will host its first-ever Pride Nites as part of the park’s “After Dark” series in June.

The LGBTQIA+ event — dubbed “Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite” — will be the first of its kind to be held in the self-described “happiest place on earth” and will extend for two nights, June 13th and June 15th.

“The first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is coming to @Disneyland during Pride Month in June,” Disney tweeted from the brand account. “This separately ticketed event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and allies will have themed entertainment, Disney characters, specialty menu items & more.”

A report from ABC News laid out some of the entertainment attendees could expect to take part in during those events, including but not limited to “Pride Night Cavalcade, an Ohana Dance Party in Tomorrowland featuring Stitch, a Pride Night Dance Club at the Rivers of America and a country line dancing event at the Golden Horseshoe.”

The event is also expected to feature a number of favorite Disney characters, who will be available throughout the events to take photos with guests.

The evenings are scheduled to begin with a pre-event mixer party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by the main event from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. — during which time patrons will also be able to enjoy the park’s other rides and attractions.

The news comes as Disney continues to battle Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — who has vowed to ensure that the increasingly-woke corporation abide by the same rules and regulations as other businesses in his state after years of self-governance and autonomy.

Ron DeSantis Drops The Hammer On Bud Light Over Transgender Controversy

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Bud Light on Monday evening, saying that conservatives should keep pressure up on the company as it faces backlash over its decision to partner with controversial transgender-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

DeSantis’ remarks during the interview with political commentator Benny Johnson come after the company released a statement late last week which generated even more backlash against the company because it was seen across the political spectrum as weak.

“Why would you want to drink Bud Light?” DeSantis asked. “I mean like honestly, that’s like them rubbing our faces in it and it’s like these companies that do this, if they never have any response, they’re just gonna keep doing it.”

“So, if you as a consumer are like … ‘ yeah, they’re doing that, but I’m just gonna keep drinking it anyways,’ well, then they’re gonna keep doing it,” DeSantis said. “So I think we have power as consumers to make our voice heard, and not on every company because sometimes conservative consumers aren’t going to make a dent in some companies.”

“This one is one if you don’t have conservative beer drinkers, you’re gonna feel that and so you know, I think it’s a thing,” DeSantis said. “Some of these controversies that come up, and people can kind of just say, ‘oh, well it’s kind of a one off, yeah, it was stupid to do,’ but it’s part of a larger thing where corporate America is trying to change our country. Trying to change policy, trying to change culture, and you know, I’d rather be governed by we the people than woke companies and so I think pushback is in order across the board including with Bud Light.”

When asked if he would ever drink Bud Light again, DeSantis responded, “No, I don’t think so.”

DeSantis said that the company lost him as a customer over the controversy.
