President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he was exiting the 2024 presidential race, and while the official letter came from his office, many said that the marching orders had come from a handful of high-dollar donors and prominent members of his own party.

And as fate would have it — and as a number of people quickly pointed out via X — the president famous for his love of ice cream announced his plan to “stand down” and not accept the party’s nomination on National Ice Cream Day.

July 21 is a federally recognized holiday — National Ice Cream Day — and has been so since then-President Ronald Reagan signed off on it in 1984.

Some of President Joe Biden’s diehard supporters made it clear on Sunday that they were not happy with the “geniuses that pushed the most consequential President of our lifetime out.”

President Biden made the official announcement in a letter on Sunday, saying that he planned to “stand down” and not accept the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination. A short time later, he endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris. But although the letter came from Biden himself, many believe that he was pressured to step aside by a handful of high-dollar donors and powerful members of his own party.

Several of them took to X to air their frustrations — and to predict what would happen if the Democratic Party chose to run with anyone other than Harris, who has already announced her plan to run in Biden’s place.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett was quick to call them out, saying, “Well I hope the geniuses that pushed the most consequential President of our lifetime out, have a plan.”

“WHO in the hell couldn’t sell the MF Accomplishments & win over a 34 time convicted Felon who isn’t even allowed to operate businesses in the state of NY (and therefore should automatically be disallowed from say running the country) & his ENTIRE team IS project 2025?! Joe wasn’t the problem… dems were,” Crockett continued. “I know one thing, I will only work for @KamalaHarris! If it’s anyone OTHER than her, enjoy campaign season… I hope all of my disenchanted colleagues are able to find some walking shoes and get to work because I WILL NOT! FULL [STOP].”

“Now that the donors and electeds have pushed out the only candidate who has ever beaten Trump, it’s time to end the political fantasy games and unite behind the only veteran of a national campaign — our outstanding @vp @kamalaharris!!” former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klein added. “Let’s get real and win in November!”
