Lisa Murkowski Wins Re-Election In U.S. Senate, Mike Dunleavy First Alaska Governor To Win Re-Election Since 1998: Projection

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has won re-election after state officials finished a final round of vote-counting in the state’s ranked choice voting system.

Murkowski won re-election over Republican challenger Kelly Tshibaka Wednesday evening in a ranked choice runoff because neither candidate reached 50% on the ballot.

After the second-choice votes were counted, Murkowski ended up beating Tshibaka, 53.7% to 46.3%.

“I am honored that Alaskans — of all regions, backgrounds and party affiliations — have once again granted me their confidence to continue working with them and on their behalf in the U.S. Senate,” Murkowski said in a statement after the results were announced. “I look forward to continuing the important work ahead of us.”

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy also won re-election, becoming the state’s first governor since 1998 to do so.

“Alaskans, thank you for voting and for your continued support over the past four years,” he said in a statement. “From public safety and improving our education outcomes to growing our economy, I am honored to serve Alaskans for another four years.”

“We look forward to working with the Legislature to prioritize the policies Alaskans expect us to accomplish,” he added. “Together, we will work to build an Alaska not just for the next four years but for 50 years and beyond. I will devote myself to ensuring our best days are in front of us.”

Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) also won re-election against Sarah Palin, who former President Donald Trump backed along with Tshibaka, in the state’s at-large House seat.

The Washington Post noted that Peltola, who is considered to be a more moderate Democrat, is the first Alaska Native to win a full term in Congress.

“This is a two-year contract,” she said. “And I will be happy to work for Alaskans again, as long as they’ll have me.”

‘You Can’t Do That’: Matt Walsh Slams Leftist Media For Trying To Ignore Colorado Shooter Identifying As Non-Binary

Matt Walsh slammed left-wing media coverage of the Colorado shooting for ignoring the mass shooter’s alleged non-binary identity.

Appearing on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday, Walsh slammed the left-wing media for ignoring or trying to downplay the fact that the alleged shooter identifies as non-binary. Because the left-wing media has put so much stock into transgender identity, they cannot ignore the shooter identifying as trans, by their own rules, and must be held to account.

“Well, I mean, we’re all owed apologies, but — I’ve seen these people enough to know that I’m not going to sit around and hold my breath waiting for the apology,” Walsh told Carlson. “I think it’s just really kind of amazing to watch, especially … CNN, where they immediately just deny this person’s self-identity. And I think the point that we want to get across is if you’re on the Left, okay, you can’t do that. That is not available to you. You’re not allowed to do that, by your own precedent, by your own philosophy, by the rules that you have set, and we’re gonna hold you to them.”

“Now you and I, Tucker, we’re allowed to say that this mass shooter who calls himself ‘non-binary,’ we’re allowed to say, ‘that’s nonsense. Non-binary isn’t even a thing, you can’t even be that,’” Walsh continued. “But on the Left, they’ve made it clear that the only evidence that needs to be provided in order to prove that someone is non-binary is they say it. And what they’ve also told us repeatedly is that the idea that somebody would adopt one of these identities in a self-serving way, like for example, a convicted male felon who’s in prison who all of a sudden discovers his inner female identity. To speculate that maybe he’s doing that so that he could have access to female inmates in women’s prisons, we’re told that, ‘no, you can’t speculate, that’s an awful thing to suggest.’”

“So that’s them [the Left] saying that, which means they’re stuck with this. As far as they’re concerned, this person is nonbinary. Now, what is he actually? I don’t know, I think it’s pretty clear he’s just a crazy guy. That’s what actually happened,” Walsh said.

“What we need to realize with the left-wing media is that when there’s a mass shooting, if we don’t know everything about the person’s life and we haven’t seen all of their social media posts within the first two hours after the shooting, it almost always means that this is not a right-winger,” Walsh went on. “Like, if it’s a right-winger who committed the attack, we’re gonna know everything about them immediately. But it was very suspicious and conspicuous that up until two, three days pass, and we knew almost nothing about this guy. All we had was speculation from the media, and then this shoe drops telling us that ‘oh, actually, he identifies as nonbinary.’ So, that’s not a coincidence. They gave themselves time to get their preferred narrative out before the truth got out.”

“The left is determined to politicize these things immediately and use them as political ammunition,” he added. “What it means is that we can’t have any actual, needed conversations about why this stuff happens. As you point out, pharmaceuticals. Also, one of the few details we know about this guy is that he comes from a broken home, his mother has warrants out for her arrest, his father is estranged, he’s like a porn star drug smuggler. I mean he comes from this tumultuous broken home, which, of course, doesn’t begin to excuse it, but it does indicate that when kids are raised in that kind of environment, it makes it much more likely that they’re gonna lash out violently.”

“That’s a conversation we should really be having about the effects of broken homes and the disintegration of the nuclear family, and how that contributes to violence,” Walsh continued. “But we can’t talk about that, because as soon as the Left realizes that they can’t use it for their political advantage, we don’t talk about it anymore and it goes away. And that’s why this story is going away as far as media is concerned.”
