“Downhill, Disaster, Hard Times” – Under Joe Biden, 71% of Americans Say Country is on the Wrong Track: NBC Poll

71% of Americans say the country is on the wrong track, according to a new NBC poll.

“Asked to describe where America is headed in the next year, more than two-thirds use negative words and phrases: ‘downhill,’ ‘wrong track,’ ‘disaster,’ ‘hard times,’ and ‘uncertainty'” NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd said on Sunday.

Good Sunday morning —

NBC News reported:

Maybe most troubling for Biden in the poll are his presidential attributes. He gets his highest marks for being easygoing and likable (45% of all adults give Biden a positive score here) and for being knowledgeable and experienced enough to handle the presidency (42% give him a positive rating).

But his lowest marks come on being honest and trustworthy (34%), having the ability to handle a crisis (32%), being competent and effective as president (31%), having the necessary mental and physical health to be president (28%) and uniting the country (23%).

Many of these scores are down significantly from when Biden first took office, according to the poll.

“Since January 2021, Biden has dropped 17 points on uniting the country, 15 points on his ability to handle a crisis, 13 points on being knowledgeable and experienced enough to handle the presidency, and 9 points on being honest and trustworthy,” said Horwitt, the Democratic pollster.

What also stands out in the survey is the public’s continued sour mood: 71% believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction (essentially unchanged from the 72% who said this in November), and 64% say their family’s income is falling behind the cost of living (63% said this in Sept. 2022).

Israel Reportedly Behind Drone Strikes in Iran

Israel was reportedly behind drone strikes in Iran last night.

FOX News reported on the attacks but could not confirm who was behind the attack.

An explosion at an Iranian military facility Saturday evening, which authorities said was the result of a drone strike, comes just days after the United States and Israel conducted joint military drills in the region.

Iran’s authorities announced Saturday that bomb-carrying drones targeted a “workshop” that operates for the Iranian Ministry of Defense in the central city of Isfahan, causing some damage. The officials did not disclose what the factory produces and said the attack was “unsuccessful.”

“One of (the drones) was hit by the … air defense and the other two were caught in defense traps and blew up. Fortunately, this unsuccessful attack did not cause any loss of life and caused minor damage to the workshop’s roof,” Iranian defense officials said in a statement, according to state news agency IRNA…

…There have been reports of additional drone strikes, including a comment from Iuliia Mendel, a former spokesperson for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Mehrdad Khalili, the director of IRNA in Lebanon, denied these reports.

“There is no truth to the occurrence of explosions in different areas in Iranian territory,” he wrote in a translated tweet. “The only incident is the thwarting of an attack by drones on a factory for the Ministry of Defense.”

No person, country, or entity has claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack.

Reuters, however, reported earlier today that Israel is expected to be behind the attacks.

Israel appears to have been behind an overnight drone attack on a military factory in Iran, a U.S. official said on Sunday.

Iran claimed to have intercepted drones that struck a military industry target near the central city of Isfahan, and said there were no casualties or serious damage.

The extent of damage could not be independently ascertained. Iranian state media released footage showing a flash in the sky and emergency vehicles at the scene.

This is not good.  In late December, Iran promised to destroy Tel Aviv if Israel hit their nuclear strike sites.

Iran Threatens to “Raze Tel Aviv to the Ground” if Israel Strikes Nuclear Sites

This looks like a very dangerous situation in the always dangerous Middle East.
