Pat McAfee pledges $500K to charity if Steelers' TJ Watt breaks this NFL record

Sports media personality and former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee has a proposition for the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt

McAfee said that he would donate $500,000 to the charity of Watt’s choice if the stud edge rusher breaks the record for most sacks in a single season in NFL history

It is a record that Watt is all too familiar with; he co-owns it with New York Giants legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan at 22.5 sacks in one season.

After leading the NFL in sacks in 2020 with 15, Watt did not just follow it up in 2021 – he blew it out of the water.

The overall record was on serious notice that season, as Watt continued to take quarterbacks to the turf. When he totaled four sacks against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16, everyone was on the edge of their seats to see what he would do against the Baltimore Ravens.

Of course, trying to get quarterback Lamar Jackson to the ground is extremely hard, but Watt was able to secure one sack to tie the record in Week 17. However, that was all he would get, as the Steelers would win the game, 16-13.

Today, Watt is looking for a big bounce-back season in 2023, as an injury-riddled campaign last year led to just 5.5 sacks over 10 games.

The Steelers and Watt have noted him looking happy and healthy at training camp this summer, and Watt now has even more incentive to break out once again when it is his turn to rush the passer this season.

Watt, the younger brother of now-retired legendary defensive end J.J. Watt, is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro in his six seasons with the Steelers.

He has totaled 77.5 sacks already in his career, which puts him 84th on the all-time NFL list.

Florida mother kills 2 kids, herself in apparent murder-suicide after losing custody battle: sheriff

A Florida woman allegedly shot and killed her two children before killing herself in an apparent murder-suicide after losing custody of her son, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Brandy Hutchins is accused of shooting her 10-year-old son, Aiden, and 19-year-old daughter before turning the gun on herself inside the family’s mobile home in Lake Wales.

The incident took place after a judge ordered her to surrender Aiden to his father who lives in Maine. Hutchins' daughter had a different father and was not involved in the custody battle.

Hutchins' ex-husband was in Florida to appear in court with her because she did not appropriately turn over custody of their son. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said she was instructed to give up custody of him by 6 p.m. Friday but failed to show up for the appointment.

The sheriff’s office learned that Hutchins violated the court order and deputies worked through the weekend to locate the boy.

Deputies arrived at the home Sunday afternoon and found the bodies of the boy, his half-sister and his mother.

Judd said the sheriff’s office's investigation indicates Hutchins "has murdered her 10-year-old child and her 19-year-old child — murdered them and then subsequent to that, she shot herself."

"I can't imagine a more horrific set of circumstances," Judd added.

The sheriff said Hutchins had no criminal history or indication of potential violence.

The boy's father addressed his son's death Sunday on Facebook:

"It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to give everyone an update about my son Aiden Hutchins who was taken by his mother on August 25, 2023 who decided to murder him," he wrote. "He was killed by her today, August 27, 2023. He will forever be in my heart and did not deserve this."

Judd said the sheriff’s office deals with many court orders but rarely sees an incident like this. He also offered his condolences to the family.

"My heart breaks for all of the family," Judd said. "We're devastated for this beautiful 10-year-old child — all because mom did not want to turn the child over to the rightful father pursuant to a court order."
