Agatha Christie novels become latest classics censored to remove 'offensive' language

British mystery author Agatha Christie's works are the latest to be slapped by sensitive censors, and the move comes weeks after controversy surrounding edits to the works of Roald Dahl, Ian Fleming and more.

New editions of Poirot and Miss Marple mysteries published by HarperCollins have rewritten or removed some passages for modern audiences, particularly for passages concerning characters encountered outside the U.K., according to The Guardian.

One example changes the word "native" to "local" while others remove racial slurs or racially offensive language, including the term "Oriental" and the "N-word."

DECADES BEFORE WOKE CULTURE, AUTHOR ROALD DAHL WARNED PUBLISHERS ON CHANGES: DON'T REMOVE A ‘SINGLE COMMA’

The U.K. Telegraph reported references to racially-charged physical descriptions were also removed from the new editions, including those describing characters as Black, Jewish or Gypsies.

One stripped from the 1964 novel "A Caribbean Mystery" removed a reference to a hotel worker's "lovely white teeth," while another passage from 1937's "Death on the Nile" trimmed down a passage complaining about children, removing a portion that reads, "their eyes are simply disgusting, and so are their noses," the outlet reported.

Additional edits involved erasing references to Nubians in "Death on the Nile," with one instance condensing "the Nubian boatman" to simply say "the boatman."

ROALD DAHL'S PUBLISHER BACKS DOWN AFTER ANTI-WOKE BACKLASH: ‘CLASSIC’ LANGUAGE VERSION TO STAY IN PRINT

Similar edits to Dahl's and Fleming's classic novels created a stir last month when, to preserve appeal for modern sensitivities, allusions to racist, sexist, homophobic or fatphobic language were nixed from new releases.

Some, particularly Dahl's writings, were altered to include more "gender inclusive" terminology.

Sensitivity readers have also clamped down on other popular, more recent series, including R.L. Stine's tween-favorite horror series "Goosebumps" popularized in the 1990s, removing and altering references fo weight, mental health and ethnicity that could be seen as offensive by modern audiences.

I’VE READ ALL THE JAMES BOND BOOKS AND WRITE FOR A LIVING. CENSORING THEM IS JUST PLAIN WRONG

Stine, firing back at accusations that he authorized the changes, tweeted earlier this month, "The stories aren't true. I've never changed a word in ‘Goosebumps.’ Any changes were never shown to me."

But midcentury authors like Dahl, Fleming and Christie have become the focal point for softening offensive language to cater to 21st century ideals as culture becomes increasingly focused on diversity, inclusion and acceptance.

Fox News Digital reached out to HarperCollins for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Middle school teacher fired after anti-Christian rant outside abortion clinic: 'F---ing idiots'

A South Carolina middle school teacher has been fired after his social media posts heckling Christians went viral.

In a video posted to social media this month, the alleged teacher is seen shouting at a man through a bullhorn at what appears to be an abortion clinic protest.

The video identifies the person with the bullhorn as French teacher Trevor Anderson at Gilbert Middle School in Lexington County, South Carolina.

"I teach them French. I teach them that people like you are a piece of s---… I teach them that Christians are f---ing idiots," the man says in the video. "You're all f---ing idiots," he says to the person arguing with him.

In another video posted to Vimeo, Anderson can be seen using racist and sexist slurs against Black and female clinic protesters at various times.

"You do what all these White people tell you to do, you f---ing c--n. You f---ing jigga boo…Do a little dance for us like your masters want you to," he tells one person off camera.

"You deserve to be called a c--t, you deserve to be called a b---h," he says to another person.

He appears to be arguing with a protester while volunteering at an abortion clinic. He is wearing a shirt that says "clinic parking."

"No one cares what you have to say," the man continues to argue with another unidentified person who seems to have shared the video on social media.

His account, "rudedefenderdude," is tagged on the social media platform by other abortion clinic escorts. It is no longer active.

Several TikTok users said that he was their former French teacher or sports coach at Gilbert Middle School.

In another video, a man wearing the same outfit is filmed following a protester to his car while hurling obscenities at them.

"Hey you piece of s--t! Where the f--- are you going?" he says in the graphic video.

The Lexington County School District One confirmed Anderson was fired, in a statement to Columbia Fox affiliate 57.

"The employee in the video is no longer employed with Lexington County School District One. Our administrative team, in collaboration with district administrators, is working on a plan for the classes impacted by this change. Our goal is to maintain our high expectations for teaching and learning," the district reportedly said.

Gilbert community members who spoke to local station WIS News 10 were divided on whether the teacher should've been fired.

"That does sound like hate speech," one woman said. However, another man argued that what Anderson said was protected under freedom of speech.
