Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee by default, did what her predecessor President Joe Biden only dreamed of when she chose Governor Mike Walz (D-MN) to be her running mate: she got Republicans and the far-Left anti-Israel “Squad” to agree on something.

In the hours after media began reporting that Walz was Harris’ final choice — despite some rumblings that she might choose critical swing-state Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) — liberal “Squad” members cheered the addition to the party’s ticket, and Republicans cheered what they viewed as an unforced error that could make the path to victory an easier one for former President Donald Trump.

On the Left, soon-to-be former Rep. Jamaal Bowman delivered a video of himself hyping the liberal Minnesota Governor — who presided over the violent and fiery riots that followed George Floyd’s death largely by allowing the perpetrators to burn and loot without compunction — like a cheerleader. Bowman lost his primary earlier this summer by double digits after taking a vocal stand against Israel in the wake of the October 7 massacre and in favor of the pro-Hamas groupies who trashed college campuses in the months that followed.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) also cheered her home state governor, saying he’d “bring Minnesota nice to the ticket.” But if “Minnesota nice” is anything like “neighborliness” — which is how Walz has previously described socialism — the American people might have other ideas.

Republican CNN commentator Scott Jennings weighed in, saying, “The Hamasniks won out, sounds like.”

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro called the choice a “massive gift” to the Republican Party, adding, “As someone who wants Kamala to lose, picking Walz is wonderful! It’s political malpractice! Why? 1. Not from a swing state. 2. Radical, underscoring her radicalism. 3. She rejected (((Shapiro))) to please the pro-Hamas caucus. She’s not competent. And this pick shows it.”

He then explained why Harris’ choice was driving celebration both on the hard Left and on the Right: “Both Republicans and the pro-Hamas far left are celebrating. Republicans because they correctly view Walz as a weaker electoral option. The pro-Hamas far-left because, as they are openly saying, it sends a signal to them that a Harris admin will pander to their views.”

CNN’s Van Jones conceded Hamilton’s point during a segment with Jim Acosta, saying that Harris’ choice was an indication that she had “caved” to the far-Left anti-Israel wing of her party in not choosing Shapiro, who is Jewish.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) took it a step further, arguing that Harris had not chosen Walz because she was appeasing the pro-Hamas left, but rather, because she was part of it.

“Let’s be clear: Kamala didn’t *cave* to the antisemitic, pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party,” he said. “She *belongs* to the pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic party.”

Most normal people who had the unfortunate fate of turning on the Paris Olympics opening ceremony were at least a little weirded out by the images on the screens in front of them. For Christian viewers, the opening ceremony was downright blasphemous.

The ceremony featured a parody of The Last Supper that showed a large woman wearing a halo and presumably representing Jesus surrounded by drag queens. It was rightfully blasted by Christians and conservatives who saw the stunt for what it truly was: a mockery of Christianity.

Sadly, the despicable opening ceremony wasn’t all. Shortly into the boxing competition in Paris, it became clear that the women were at a disadvantage as two boxers who failed gender tests last year brutalized their competition and both reached the semifinals. 

One female competitor forfeited within 46 seconds of her match with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was disqualified during the 2023 World Championships after failing a gender test. Another female lost her chance to win gold when Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated her. Lin Yu-ting also failed a gender test that was conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA) last year. 

The IBA also held a press conference this week, defending its gender tests on the boxers. “The blood results look and say — the laboratories — that this boxer is male,” said Dr. Ioannis Filippatos, the former Chair of the IBA Medical Committee. 

The Olympics, for obvious reasons, is one of the biggest opportunities for companies to advertise their products to the world. Spending millions of dollars on ads during the Olympics could boost companies in ways that just aren’t possible at any other time of the year. 

But there comes a time when it’s just plain wrong to give your money to the people comfortable with planning and broadcasting a ceremony that disrespects the largest religion in the world and approves of women competing against boxers whose biological sex is in question.

C Spire, a telecommunications and technology company, recognized that a line had been crossed and pulled its advertising from the Olympics, saying it was “shocked” by the opening ceremony. While the Olympic organizers “apologized” to people who were disgusted by the opening ceremony, they defended the drag queen-themed Last Supper. Thomas Jolly, the ceremony’s director, said the scene was actually a reference to Greek mythology and he wanted “to create a big pagan party in link with the God of Mount Olympus.” Others claimed the performance was based on Jan van Bijlert’s painting, “The Feast of the Gods,” but both attempts at quieting the outrage are pathetic explanations for a scene that Christians worldwide clearly saw as targeting their faith. 

In this day and age, where you spend money can speak to what your values are. Trust is everything when it comes to supporting brands that may use those hard-earned dollars of yours to elevate a cause that runs directly against what you care about.
