President Joe Biden seethed with rage during Thursday night’s presidential debate against former President Donald Trump, bringing up a controversial story that has been widely disputed.

Biden mentioned a story from years ago, which many former Trump officials have said is not true, which accused Trump of calling U.S. soldiers “suckers and losers.”

Biden claimed that “veterans are a hell of a lot better off” under his presidency than Trump’s presidency.

“My son spent a year in Iraq, living next one of those burn pits, came back with stage four glioblastoma,” Biden falsely claimed. This lie has been repeatedly debunked by fact-checkers.

“I was recently in, in France for D-Day, and I spoke to all about those heroes that died,” Biden continued. “I went to the World War II cemetery, World War I cemetery he refused to go to, he was standing with his four star general. And he told him, I don’t want to go in there because they’re a bunch of losers and suckers.”

Biden then became visibly very agitated, saying: “My son was not a loser, he was not a sucker. You’re the sucker. You’re the loser.”

Trump fired back: “First of all, that was a made up, quote, ‘suckers and losers.’ They made it up. It was in a third rate magazine that’s failing, like many of these magazines. He made that up. He put it in commercials, we’ve notified him. We had 19 people that said, I didn’t say it.”

“There’s nobody that’s taken better care of our soldiers than I have,” Trump continued. “To think that I would, in front of generals and others, say ‘suckers and losers.’ We have 19 people that said, it was never said by me. It was made up by him. Just like Russia, Russia, Russia was made up, just like the 51 intelligence agents are made up. Just like the new thing with the 16 Economists are talking. It’s the same thing. 51 intelligence agents said that the laptop was Russia disinformation. It wasn’t. That came from his son Hunter. It wasn’t Russia disinformation. He made up the suckers and losers so he should apologize to be right now.”

President Joe Biden falsely claimed during the CNN debate against former President Donald Trump on Thursday no U.S. troops have died under his watch.

“Truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this, this decade — that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world,” Biden said during the first hour of the face-off.

People on social media rebuked Biden for the falsehood, with many noting how the statement ignores the fact that 13 U.S. service members were killed in a suicide bombing attack on the airport in Kabul during the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“President Biden’s memory is worse than we thought,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who added later, “The American people will never forget the horrible withdrawal from Afghanistan that claimed the lives of 13 heroes under his watch.”

Reporter Jim Laporta responded to Biden, saying, “This is not true, at least 16 service members have died under the Biden admin overseas.”

And CNN’s fact-checker Daniel Dale said Biden’s claim “is false, clearly.”
