Josh Hawley Went To Trump Rally Site For Answers — The FBI Shut Him Out

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) went to Butler County, Pennsylvania, on Friday in search of answers in the wake of last week’s attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump — and when he got there, he said the FBI made him leave.

Hawley, who also sent a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding he account for numerous apparent security failures that led up to the assassination attempt, described what happened during a Friday evening appearance on “Hannity.”

“As the Senate prepares for hearings, today I went to Butler County to see the site of the shooting myself — and FBI told me to leave. We need ANSWERS. I won’t stop pushing until we get them,” Hawley captioned a video of the exchange.

“Where are your fellow Democrats?” Hannity asked Hawley. “Their silence is deafening to me. Why aren’t they more outraged over this?”

“I don’t know. I just don’t get it at all,” Hawley replied. “I’ll tell you one thing — today,  Sean, when I went to the site, the FBI has got more security on that site now than they did the night that Trump was shot at. The FBI — totally late — and they’re trying to control the information, Sean, they tried to kick me off of the site. They said, ‘get out of here, you shouldn’t be on this site, we don’t want you here.'”

“Get this,” Hawley continued. “I’m there on the site, I had permission from the local security operator to be there, and they — the FBI — came out and said, ‘You have got to leave, we do not want you here.’ That’s what they’re trying to do, they’re trying to control it.”

The Secret Service has been in the hot seat since last Saturday, facing a number of questions beginning with how Trump’s would-be assassin was able to attain an elevated position less than 200 yards and with a direct line of sight to where the former president was speaking.

‘Delicious’: CNN’s Scott Jennings Says ‘The Party Of Democracy Is Now Organizing A Coup’

CNN commentator Scott Jennings said during a Friday segment that he was starting to feel like he needed to “take up for” President Joe Biden as the wolves within his own party circle and call for his ouster.

Jennings, a Republican, made the comments during a panel discussion — hosted by Abby Phillip and including former CNN host Brian Stelter — about the disarray within the Democratic Party as multiple prominent Democrats come forward and say they don’t have confidence that Biden can beat former President Donald Trump or that he has the cognitive abilities to serve another four-year term as president.

Folks, we need to take up for President Biden. The “party of democracy” is organizing an undemocratic coup against our President & we need to speak up for the very fabric of our Constitution. My latest tonight on @cnn w/ @abbydphillip & friends. pic.twitter.com/WdgITPmay1

“I feel like I need to take up for the president here,” Jennings said, prompting laughs from the panel. “Because he won millions and millions of votes to earn the Democratic nomination, and I find it delicious that the ‘party of democracy’ is no organizing a coup against the sitting President of the United States. It’s crazy!”

“It’s very telling that that is the talking point for Republicans,” Phillip replied. “The democratic process — but they want Joe Biden in this race. The Trump campaign wants Joe Biden in this race.”

“Yeah, despite what — every time Karen and I are on TV, she says, ‘Well I heard getting five points for Joe’ — if everything you said was true, he’d be ahead 100 to nothing,” Jennings continued. “Why is Donald Trump winning? Joe Biden has a terrible, terrible approval rating, A, so the results of the presidency are already — people have lost confidence in that, and B, everybody knows he’s not even capable of being president today let alone for four more years. No Project 2025 malarkey is going to change any of that.”

“The contours of this race are set,” Jennings concluded. “A failed president and someone who’s not fit for the job, that’s why Trump is winning.”
