Eric Adams Bows Out Of NYC Mayor Race, Makes No Endorsement

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that he is dropping out of the race to serve another term.

In a lengthy video posted to X on Sunday afternoon, Adams thanked his mother, touted his diverse appointments, discussed the corruption case against him that was dropped earlier this year, and stated that he was officially ending his campaign to remain Mayor of New York City.

“It’s not always easy to see the impact of good policy in just three years. … I know some remain unsure of me after the unfortunate events surrounding my federal case. I was wrongfully charged because I fought for this city, and if I had to do it again, I would fight for New York again,” Adams said in the video. “And yet, despite all we’ve achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign. The constant media speculation about my future and the campaign finance board’s decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign. I hope that over time, New Yorkers will see this city thrived under our leadership, the policies we put in place should be continued and expanded. I hope you will see that despite the headlines and innuendo, I always put you before me.”

Notably, Adams didn’t endorse any of his rivals during his video address.

Adams was running as an independent candidate against socialist Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is also running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary to Mamdani, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.

Adams had been consistently placing last in polling among the four main candidates, with Mamdani in the lead and Cuomo a somewhat distant second. Currently, the RealClearPolitics polling average has Mamdani at 44.4%, with Cuomo at 25.4%, and Sliwa at 13.8%.

The New York City mayoral election is November 4.

Suspect Charged In North Carolina Dockside Shooting That Killed 3, Injured 8

Three people were killed and eight were injured when an alleged U.S. veteran who claimed he was suffering from PTSD fired into a dockside North Carolina restaurant, killing three people and leaving at least one other person fighting for their life.

The suspect was named by the Southport Police Department as Nigel Max Edge, arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, with additional charges pending.

“We believe that this was a targeted location,” Southport Police Chief Todd Coring stated at a press conference. “He acted in what we call a ‘lone wolf.’ He acted alone. This is highly premeditated from what we are seeing at this time and we feel that there are no other threats to our community, that we do have someone in custody.”

He added that an active investigation is underway.

Coring continued that the suspect was identified as a combat veteran injured in the line of duty and said he suffered from PTSD.

“On Saturday, September 27, 2025 at approximately 9:30 PM, members of the Southport Police Department were dispatched to calls of shots fired with multiple injuries at the American Fish Company, located at 150 Yacht Basin Dr, Southport, NC 28461,” the Southport, North Carolina, Facebook page stated. “Just prior, a boat with a single occupant traveling on the Cape Fear River, paused briefly at the American Fish Company and opened fire, fatally wounding three patrons, and injuring at least eight others. The boat then fled the area, towards the Intracoastal Waterway in the direction of Oak Island. Shortly after 10:00 PM, the U.S. Coast Guard observed a single individual matching the description of the shooter, loading their boat at the public boat ramp at NE 55th Street in Oak Island. The Coast Guard crew detained this suspect.”

The suspect reportedly was formerly known as Sean William DeBevoise, who authored a book titled, “Headshot: Betrayal of a Nation.” In the author’s comments about the book, he stated, “The attacks on 9/11 would decide my future for me. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed 3 times; first to Haiti’s political turmoil, then to Iraq twice. Returning from the warzone severely wounded, my life would never be the same as it once was.”
