Evidence In Trump Docs Case Contains Info On ‘Ongoing Investigations’ Involving ‘Uncharged Individuals’: Report

Some of the evidence that federal prosecutors are reportedly set to give to former President Donald Trump’s defense team contains information about current criminal investigations that could be used to “identify” individuals in the cases.

The New York Times reported that prosecutors filed a request for a protective order on the evidence and that Trump’s lawyers did not object to it.

The filing said that some of the documents were about “ongoing investigations” and contained information that could be used to “identify uncharged individuals.”

There was no hint about what the “ongoing investigations” were related to or if the documents were among the 31 sets of national defense documents that Trump was indicted for allegedly retaining after the government repeatedly told him to return the documents.

Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump nominee overseeing the case in the Southern District of Florida, ordered on Friday that lawyers for Trump’s team needed to start the work needed to get security clearances so they could see the classified documents in the case.

CBS News investigative reporter Catherine Herridge said that some of the materials recovered by investigators were “way beyond top secret” records.

“Some of these are way beyond top secret, like, I said, Talent Keyhole, when you’re talking about Special Access Programs or SCI, sensitive compartmentalized information,” she said. “These really are the crown jewels of the U.S. intelligence community.”

The indictment stated that documents recovered from Trump by federal investigators included “classified documents he stored in his boxes,” which “included information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military, attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.”

Trump was charged with 37 criminal counts, with 31 of those being the willful retention of national defense information. Other counts include conspiracy to obstruct justice, corruptly concealing documents or records, and making false statements.

Legendary Basketball Coach Bob Huggins Arrested On DUI Charges

Legendary West Virginia college basketball coach Bob Huggins was arrested Friday night after being charged with driving under the influence.

Huggins, 69, was pulled over after police tried to help him get off the road in Pittsburgh because his vehicle had a flat tire, according to police.

“The driver’s side door was open and the vehicle had a flat and shredded tire. Officers directed the male driver on how best to move off the road so they could help with the flat tire. When they observed him having difficulty maneuvering the SUV to allow vehicles to pass, they activated their lights to pull him over,” the police report said.

The report added that officers at the scene had a “strong suspicion” that Huggins was intoxicated. The criminal complaint against Huggins says he had a blood alcohol content of .210. Empty beer cans in trash bags were also found in the car, according to CBS Sports.

“They asked him to exit the vehicle to perform standard field sobriety tests, which he failed. The male was placed in custody without incident and transported for further testing,” the police report added.

The University of West Virginia, where Huggins leads the men’s basketball team, said that it was reviewing the incident.

“West Virginia University is aware of an incident last night involving Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins, for which he was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in the City of Pittsburgh. We are gathering more information and will take appropriate action once the review is complete,” the school said.

Huggins previously found himself in hot water this year after he referred to an opposing team’s fans as “Catholic f**s.” As punishment, his salary was knocked down by $1 million, he was required to attend sensitivity training, and he was suspended three games for the next season.

Huggins, an Ohio native who graduated from West Virginia, has been a college basketball coach for 38 years. His career includes stints at the University of Akron, Cincinnati, Kansas State, and his current job at West Virginia. He has compiled an 863-389 record.

Huggins was fired from the Cincinnati job in 2005 despite leading the team to 14 straight NCAA tournament berths, after being arrested a year earlier for driving under the influence. Since taking over at West Virginia in 2007, Huggins has led the Mountaineers to 11 NCAA tournament appearances.
