Trump Pins Arlington Cemetery Dispute On ‘Comrade Kamala And Her Misinformation Squad’

Former President Donald Trump blamed the controversy over a dispute at Arlington National Cemetery last week on Vice President Kamala Harris‘ “misinformation squad” in what has become yet another point of conflict between the two presidential candidates ahead of the November election.

NPR and other news outlets reported that members of Trump’s staff allegedly had a verbal and physical altercation with an official at the cemetery over whether they could themselves film or take photos in a zone for recent U.S. casualties. The incident happened during a ceremony to mark the third anniversary of the Kabul airport bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members during the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal. Trump sent a Truth Social post on Tuesday that addressed both the cemetery incident and the Afghanistan withdrawal.

“There was no conflict or ‘fighting’ at Arlington National Cemetery last week. It was a made up story by Comrade Kamala and her misinformation squad. She made it all up to make up for the fact that she and Sleepy Joe have BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS for the INCOMPETENT AFGHANISTAN Withdrawal – THE MOST EMBARRASSING DAY IN U.S. HISTORY!!! They should have been at Arlington, not on a beach or studying for a Debate,” Trump said, also referring to President Joe Biden.

A spokesperson for the Army said a female official at Arlington National Cemetery, located in Virginia near Washington, D.C., was “abruptly pushed aside” during the altercation but decided not to press charges. NPR noted that Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung “strongly rejected the notion of a physical altercation” and said his team was prepared to release footage to fight defamatory claims.

During the ensuing fallout, Democrats in Congress have requested an incident report about the clash and Harris used the opportunity to accuse Trump of engaging in a “political stunt.” Gold Star families have since appeared in videos that Trump posted to social media, saying they invited Trump to attend and film the event and criticizing Harris for her political attack.

Trump acknowledged the support he’s received from the Gold Star families, adding in his post to Truth Social on Tuesday, “Thank you to my friends, the GREAT GOLD STAR FAMILIES, for revealing the TRUTH OF A BEAUTIFUL DAY OF HONOR. Could not have been a nicer moment-And there were no fights or problems, only in the heads of those that are destroying our Country! MAGA2024.”

‘It’s Too Dangerous’: Biden Says Secret Service ‘Won’t Let’ Him Go Places With Large Crowds

President Joe Biden told reporters that the United States Secret Service (USSS) “won’t let” him make appearances in places with large crowds, explaining that they’ve informed him it is “too dangerous” to do so.

Biden told reporters that he’d enjoyed a recent campaign stop with Democratic presidential nominee and sitting Vice President Kamala Harris — who leapfrogged into the nomination after the party nudged Biden out of the race — but that he wasn’t really allowed to go out as often as he’d like.

“I’m not able to go out in the crowds anymore. The Secret Service doesn’t let me,” he said.

When a reporter asked him why, he added, “Well, because they say it’s too dangerous. No one gets to go out.”

Biden did not clarify further as to why the Secret Service felt such outings were too dangerous, but it is worth noting that it has been less than two months since a presidential protection detail failed to prevent a would-be assassin from gaining access to an elevated position less than 200 yards from former President Donald Trump. He shot and wounded three people, including Trump, on July 13 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and killed firefighter Corey Comperatore.

Over the weekend, Biden made a rare appearance on the campaign trail with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, telling a crowd in Pittsburgh that his great grandfather, Edward Francis Blewitt — who won his election to the Pennsylvania legislature in 1907 — had been accused of being a Molly Maguire.

But the Molly Maguires — a group of Irish immigrant coal miners with a penchant for violence — were only really active in Pennsylvania from 1862-1868 and then again briefly in 1874 and 1875. Biden’s great grandfather (born in 1859) would have been a teenager at the time.
