Deadly Dallas hospital shooting captured on newly released surveillance, body camera

WARNING SOME MAY FIND THIS VIDEO DISTURBING:

Dallas police released surveillance and body camera video from the deadly shooting at Dallas Methodist Medical Center that killed two healthcare workers.

Jacqueline Pokuaa, 45, and Annette Flowers, 63, were identified as the two employees who died in the shooting that occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 22.

Methodist Medical System Sgt. Robert Rangel's body camera footage gives a first-hand account of the deadly shooting.

Rangel was in the area investigating a stolen property call when he heard the shots. In surveillance video from the Dallas Police Department, gunshots can be clearly heard.

Dallas police say that 30-year-old Nestor Hernandez shot Pokuaa, a social worker who was checking on Hernandez's girlfriend who had just given birth.

After the shot. Rangel and nurse Flowers looked into the room, and police say Hernandez fired in their direction.

Hernandez followed them out of the room, where he shot the Flowers in the hallway before Rangel returned fire, hitting Hernandez in the leg.

After Hernandez was shot, he went back into the room, police said.

Officers can be heard encouraging Hernandez to drop his and gun and leave the room. Hernandez's girlfriend can be heard yelling at police not to shoot him as they move toward the room.

TWO HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES KILLED IN SHOOTING AT TEXAS HOSPITAL, SUSPECT HAD ANKLE MONITOR

Dallas police only released the audio portion of police going into the room with Hernandez due to the graphic nature of the video.

Police can be heard getting the newborn out of the room, while first responders care for Hernandez. The newborn was not injured.

Hernandez was treated at another hospital and was transferred to the Dallas County Jail. He has since been charged with capital murder and assault of a public servant.

DALLAS HOSPITAL SHOOTING SUSPECT HAS LENGTHY CRIMINAL HISTORY: POLICE

Hernandez has appeared in Dallas County courts on multiple charges, including a 2012 robbery conviction and a 2009 delinquent conduct.

Hernandez was out on parole for an aggravated assault in 2015 and given special permission from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to go to the hospital to be with his girlfriend for the birth of her baby.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hernandez allegedly began to act strangely and accused his girlfriend of cheating on him.

"The affidavit says Hernandez began looking through the closet and bathroom for anyone else that may be in the room and pulled a gun out of his pants."

Hernandez then struck his girlfriend in the head multiple times with the gun and began to call and text his family, according to the documents.

The report says he then told his girlfriend, "We are both going to die today," and, "Whoever comes in this room is going to die with us," FOX 4 reported.

In a tweet, Dallas Police Department Chief Eddie Garcia called the shooting a "tragedy" and "an abhorrent failure of our criminal justice system."

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating how Hernandez obtained the gun.

Musk Agrees To Restore Censorship Tools After Meeting With Leftists: ‘Elon Caved In Less Than A Week’

New Twitter CEO Elon Musk reportedly will restore the content moderation tools that he briefly suspended after taking over following a meeting that he had this week with left-wing groups.

Bloomberg News reported that Musk “promised” the groups that he would “restore content moderation tools that had been blocked for some staff by the end of the week.”

Musk’s decision comes after the leaders complained about Musk’s plans “to relax speech protections on the platform and restore the accounts of users who had been removed.”

Free Press’ Jessica Gonzalez said that Musk would “continue consulting with the people of color, religious minorities and people most impacted by hate and disinformation on the platform.”

Musk has not seemed open to listening to constructive criticism on the platform about some of his plans, regardless of whether those making the suggestions are on the political Right or the political Left or somewhere in between. Musk has claimed this is a good thing.

“I’ve seen folks curious why Twitter is relying on the research of Renée DiResta, a high level executive at a firm that bought Russian bot accounts to follow a Republican candidate, in an effort to mislead voters,” political commentator Mike Cernovich tweeted. “Maybe ask Renee why they did this?”

“Why is someone connected to a ‘false flag operation’ (their words) at New Knowledge during the 2018 midterms anywhere near election integrity people at Twitter?” Cernovich asked. “All of this was documented. It’s not a matter of opinion. They b[ought] Russian bots to follow a Republican candidate.”

Cernovich’s remarks are in reference to an explosive report in The New York Times back in 2018 that revealed that a leftist group used the same tactics as Russia to meddle in the Alabama Senate race against Republican nominee Roy Moore, who lost.

Journalist and political commentator Tim Pool responded to the latest developments by stating, “Elon caved in less than a week.”

“I’ll spend $8 after Elon frees the political prisoners and releases documents on the DHS collusion with Twitter to control and suppress information,” Pool continued. “Considering he’s already working with ‘New Knowledge’ I really doubt he will do anything.”

Shortly after taking over the platform, Musk said that he would create a new content moderation group that will oversee all policy initiatives on the platform.

“Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints,” Musk tweeted. “No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes.”

Six hours later, Musk added: “To be super clear, we have not yet made any changes to Twitter’s content moderation policies.”
