President Joe Biden claimed during an interview on Thursday that he will accept the result of his son’s criminal trial and will not pardon him if he is convicted.

Biden made the remarks during an ABC News interview with David Muir while Biden visited Normandy, France, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history.

When asked if he would accept the result of Hunter Biden’s criminal trial in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden responded: “Yes.”

Biden also answered “yes” when he was asked if he would rule out pardoning his son if he is convicted.

Hunter Biden has been charged with three felonies for allegedly lying on a federal background check form to obtain the weapon, and his subsequent possession of the weapon. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison and have to pay up to $750,000 in fines.

Hunter Biden allegedly checked a box on the form that said that he did not use and was not addicted to any illegal drugs, which directly contradicts his widely known struggles with crack cocaine, which he admitted to in a memoir.

“After the defendant announced his awareness of a federal investigation of him in 2020, the defendant chose to author and sell a book in 2021 in which he made countless incriminating statements about his years-long drug usage, including during the time period he purchased and possessed the gun,” said Special Counsel David Weiss in court filings.

Weiss went even further, noting that investigators “literally found drugs” on the pouch where Hunter Biden kept his gun.

“In 2023, FBI investigators pulled sealed evidence from the state police vault to take photographs of the defendant’s firearm,” Weiss said. “After opening the evidence, FBI investigators observed a white powdery substance on the defendant’s brown leather pouch that had held the defendant’s firearm in October 2018. Based on their training and experience, investigators believed that this substance was likely cocaine and that this evidence would corroborate the messages that investigators had obtained which showed the defendant buying and using drugs in October 2018. An FBI chemist subsequently analyzed the residue and determined that it was cocaine. To be clear, investigators literally found drugs on the pouch where the defendant had kept his gun.”

Jake Larson returned to Normandy, France, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion — in which he had participated — and he told Christiane Amanpour that he knew exactly what he and his fellow soldiers had been fighting for.

Amanpour began by asking Larson whether he remembered what it was like to step out of the landing craft into the water, and he was adamant: “Like it was yesterday.”

He went on to say that the “17-year-old pilot” had dropped them off a bit short of the mark he was supposed to hit, so that when he and the others stepped off the landing craft, they had immediately been neck-deep in the water.

“I got out of the landing craft and I had water right up to my chin,” he said. “He let us out a little it too far, but he was just a 17-year-old pilot for that boat.”

“You were all kids,” Amanpour exclaimed.

“We were all kids, yes,” Larson agreed.

Amanpour then asked whether he had known at the time what it was he was fighting for — and he said that all of them had known exactly what was at stake.

“Definitely. That we knew. Every one of us — every one of us was prepared to give our life to kick Hitler’s a** out of Europe!” he said. “And we did! We lost quite a few — we lost friends. I lost friends. But we were soldiers. We were prepared to give our life.”
