Democrats Rallied Around A Dangerous Criminal Alien. Now They’re Paying The Price.

It’s easy to criticize the media these days, particularly if you’re a conservative. Every day, if not every hour, there’s a new example of media incompetence or corruption that we could spend all day talking about. But today, we need to take a different approach. Today, it’s important to praise the news media — specifically, the esteemed outlet known as Reuters. That’s because, contrary to their reputation as one of the least credible news organizations on the planet, this week Reuters managed to do some really quality reporting. Credit where it’s due: They shot exclusive and highly newsworthy footage that, for one reason or another, no one else was able to obtain.

Unfortunately this Pulitzer-worthy footage doesn’t have audio. But we’ll put it up on the screen right now:

Venezuelan detainees in Texas fear the Trump administration will send them to El Salvador's notorious CECOT maximum security prison. They sent the outside world a message: S-O-S https://t.co/Oq1DzcRrA2 pic.twitter.com/vdwiD3l4M0

— Reuters (@Reuters) April 30, 2025

The footage is from April 28 and taken from a drone that was hovering above the courtyard at the Bluebonnet immigrant detention center in the small town of Anson, Texas, which is about 200 miles west of Dallas. As the drone flies overhead, 31 inmates join hands and start forming letters with their bodies. Within a few seconds, it’s clear that they’re spelling out the distress signal “S.O.S.” And to their credit, it’s a pretty convincing performance, with the exception of three people at the top of the “S”.

You can see them pretty clearly in this shot:

As you can see, everyone else is in position. All of the other illegal aliens are doing exactly what they rehearsed in their cells. But these three illegal aliens at the top of the “S” either didn’t get the memo, or they’re extremely lazy and slow. Either way, regardless of your politics, we can all agree that these three inmates should be deported first.

WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show

In the meantime, it’s probably worth asking exactly how Reuters knew it would be a good idea to position a drone and a small airplane directly above the courtyard of this detention facility, at precisely this moment. It’s not easy to fly drones for very long, since they have batteries that run out. And planes are pretty expensive, the last time I checked. So how exactly was this coordinated? For whatever reason, Reuters doesn’t seem to want to explain that.

Instead, here’s what Reuters wrote

Detainees at the Bluebonnet immigrant detention center in Anson, Texas, sent the outside world a message this week: S-O-S. With a Reuters drone flying nearby, 31 men formed the letters in the dirt yard of the facility on Monday. Ten days earlier, dozens of Venezuelan detainees at the center were given notices by immigration officials that alleged they were members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and subject to deportation under a wartime law.

Evidently, these inmates are worried that they’ll be deported to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador. So, to prevent that outcome, they’re telling Reuters that they’re not actually gang members. And they’re also doing ballet performances in the courtyard, with Reuters acting as their videographer. To be clear, there’s no allegation in this story that these inmates are being mistreated in the detention center or anything like that. Their sole concern is that they might be deported from this country — where they have no right to be — and sent to their home country. This is probably the least sympathetic “SOS” in the history of SOS’s. We’re not talking about a bunch of innocent people going down with the Titanic. These are people who, at a minimum, do not belong inside this country’s borders.

But to be fair to these inmates, you can see why they might think this would work. That’s because, for the past several weeks, as we’ve discussed, Democrats have fallen over themselves in defense of a so-called “Maryland man” who they say was wrongly deported to El Salvador without sufficient due process. This individual, whose name is Kilmar Abrego Garcia, is a 29-year-old Salvadoran and a suspected member of the gang MS-13.

He was deported to El Salvador’s Terrorist Confinement Center for two reasons: First of all, and most importantly, he didn’t have a legal right to be in this country. And secondly, there was a lot of evidence that he belonged to MS-13 — including the fact that police found him hanging out with two MS-13 members in a Home Depot parking lot while he was wearing gang clothing. Specifically, he was wearing a “Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie with rolls of money covering the eyes, ears and mouth of the presidents on the separate denominations.”

Nevertheless, several prominent members of the Democrat Party, including Maryland senator Chris Van Hollen, declared that Garcia was somehow “wrongly deported” and belonged in the United States. Now, to the extent this argument makes any sense, it hinges on the idea that Garcia was denied due process. Democrats are saying that the Trump administration didn’t make any effort to verify that this guy was in the country illegally, and therefore, they could deport anyone to El Salvador if they wanted to — even an American citizen.

In order to buy that logic, you’d need to ignore the fact that an immigration judge, along with an appellate immigration review board, each ruled that there was, “sufficient evidence to support Mr Abrego Garcia’s gang membership.” Additionally, you’d have to ignore the fact that Garcia admitted in court documents that he entered the country illegally. In other words, if you ignore all of the due process that Garcia received, then sure, he didn’t receive due process.

When Democrats went all-in on defending Garcia, they made the calculation that they could find a way to spin all of this. They determined that they could convince a lot of people that, for whatever reason, this guy is really a martyr. To that end, swarms of Democrats flew to El Salvador to spend time with him. They sent a bunch of lawmakers to El Salvador to publicly sympathize with a suspected gang member, because that’s the kind of person they idolize. In fact, one of those Democrats, congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost of Florida, once wrote on social media, “f—ing wit my gang gon get u spilled.” Which in fairness is at least more literate and coherent than anything Jasmine Crockett had ever said.

For Democrats, the strategic mistake they made here was obvious. Usually, when the Left does the hagiography routine for a violent criminal, it’s *after* the criminal is dead. It’s a lot cleaner that way, because a dead person isn’t capable of causing you any further embarrassment. It’s also easier for people to sympathize with a dead person, because a dead person isn’t a potential threat to their communities. Obviously, a lot of the people who mourned George Floyd wouldn’t have been happy if he’d somehow been resurrected from the dead and moved in next door, along with his bags of meth and fentanyl and his fake twenty-dollar bills.

But in this case, Democrats abandoned their typical game-plan. They tried to make a martyr out of a criminal who’s still alive. It was a major political gamble, and one that was destined to backfire. And indeed, that’s exactly what’s happening.

We’ve already talked about the 2021 domestic violence accusations against Garcia that were made by his wife, a woman named Jennifer Vasquez Sura. Sura didn’t show up in court to pursue the case, so the charges were dropped. But in her written accusations, Sura claimed that Garcia had grabbed and beaten her:

“At this point, I am afraid to be close to him. I have multiple photos/videos of how violent he can be and all the bruises he [has] left on me.”

At the time, to the extent Democrats could defend this, they pointed to the fact that nothing was ever proven in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. Or they made procedural arguments about how, in this country, even the worst offenders are entitled to due process — even though Garcia received due process.

The one thing they didn’t say was “Believe all women.” Instead, they suggested that perhaps this was just a spur-of-the-moment complaint, and it didn’t really reflect the true character of this alleged gang member.

For her part, representative Pramila Jayapal of Seattle stated that Garcia’s case is “jaw-dropping” and a “miscarriage of justice.” She said that the Trump administration should be “deeply ashamed of the pain and terror that we are putting innocent people and their families through.”

In other words, she’s saying Garcia is innocent, and that he’s being “kidnapped” by the White House. The implication of course is that his wife is lying in these papers, and that we should feel sorry for Garcia.

That’s what Democrats went with, because in their eyes, it’s still 2017. They think people still respond to this kind of emotional blackmail, even when they’re defending some of the worst people on the planet. One of the many problems with this strategy is that, inevitably, more information about Garcia would come out. With every passing day, it gets more and more comical and pathetic to watch Democrats stand by him. And indeed, Fox has obtained yet another complaint by Garcia’s wife. This one’s an application for a protective order from 2020:

As you can see, Garcia’s wife alleges that he committed various “acts of abuse,” including “kicking, slapping, shoving, mental injury of a child and detaining against will.”

As Fox reports“The form said Abrego Garcia had threatened her, and she wrote, “I also have a [recording] that [he] told my ex-mother-in-law that even if he kills me no one can do anything to him.”

To be clear, the allegation is that Garcia threatened that he could murder his wife and get away with it. The document also alleges that his wife accused him of verbal and physical abuse against her and mental abuse against her children.

In December 2019, he allegedly grabbed her hair in the car and “dragged” her “out of car leaving [her] in the street.” She wrote that he also “broke” her son’s tablet, “broke doors” in the house, pushed her against a wall, broke a phone and a television and damaged the walls that spring.” Garcia’s wife eventually requested to have this protection order rescinded so that he could take part in her son’s birthday — and that he, “also agreed to continue counseling and, if not, [he’s] willing to sign divorce papers.”

From these documents, at a minimum, it’s clear that Garcia’s wife didn’t file for the protective order in 2021 as some sort of spur of the moment overreaction. She was begging the courts for years to protect her from this psychopath — a psychopath who, according to Democrats, is “innocent” to a “jaw-dropping” degree.

But again, the story doesn’t end there.

It turns out that, when you’re dealing with a complete scumbag, there’s more news every day. And none of it’s good. Here’s another document:

This is a document from a court case in which Garcia’s wife sought to obtain custody of the couple’s two children. It was obtained by the New York Post. And specifically, this is an affidavit from the ex of Garcia’s wife, a man named Edwin Ramos. As you can see, he writes, “She is dating a gang member.”

Ramos … went on to claim that he feared for his children’s lives, alleging that Sura had tried to kill herself and had left the kids with an 11-year-old babysitter, the August 2018 documents said.

Now, again, if you’re a Democrat in Congress, you might think you can spin this one, too. And Republicans are certainly hoping they’ll try. Maybe we’ll get a statement from Pramila Jayapal explaining that Ramos and Garcia’s wife were involved in a conspiracy to defame Garcia, stretching back several years. Maybe Democrats will explain that these two people cooked up the accusation that Garcia was in a gang, and then lured him to a Home Depot parking lot with other MS-13 members and convinced him to wear gang clothing.

That’s basically their only option at this point, short of just cutting the ripcord and abandoning this whole narrative before it gets even worse. As you can tell from the steady drip of documents like this, it’s extremely likely that we still have only seen the tip of the iceberg. The more we learn, the more that this guy appears to be an inveterate scumbag.

So to recap: He never had any legal right to be here. The police have reason to think he’s a member of a violent gang. Several judges agreed with them. And his wife repeatedly alleged that he beat her and terrorized their children. And his ex corroborates many of her claims. This is the man that, 100 days into Donald Trump’s second term, Democrats have decided to glorify. This is the kind of “injustice” that Reuters is worried about, which is why they’re currently sending drones and planes to fly over immigrant detention centers.

At this point, we can be pretty sure that Democrats will start to slowly slink away from this whole thing, if they haven’t already. In fact there are currently some reports that Hakeem Jeffries, Democrats’ leader in the House, is privately telling members of his party to stop going to El Salvador. And if that’s true, it’s probably the first intelligent thing that Hakeem Jeffries has done in this life.

After all, just imagine how this story will play out, if Reuters and these Democrat lawmakers succeed in their mission here. What happens if Democrats got their way, and Garcia was let back into the country, gets out without any bond because some bitter California judge hates this country and never had any children to take care of — and then he proceeds to kill his wife and child? Based on these documents, that’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility. It’s the kind of thing that inevitably happens when you allow violent thugs into your country. How exactly would Democrats spin that one?

We might soon find out, assuming this latest propaganda effort by Reuters is successful. In no uncertain terms, Democrats have tied their political futures to this lowlife. Now we just have to block the exits and not let them back away like Homer Simpson into the bushes. They own this.

Whatever Kilmar Abrego Garcia has done in the past or does in the future — and whatever thousands of other gang members like him have done in the past or do in the future — the Democrats have endorsed it. They could not have been any clearer about their priorities in the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s second term. They are wedded to violence and terror and the destruction of this country. And we can’t let anyone ever forget it.

Why Matt Walsh Is Wrong About ‘Revenge Of The Sith’

Matt Walsh is a man of many talents — a popular podcaster, a notable documentarian, a feared fisherman, and a surprisingly good “Mortal Kombat” player. There is one persistent trait, however, that must be addressed: his passionate hatred of “Star Wars.”

I discovered Walsh’s animosity for “Star Wars” in May of 2023 while listening to his show. After hearing I played a recently released “Star Wars” game, he looked dead into the camera and said he was “repulsed by (me) completely.” And then continued to call me a “complete and utter disgrace.” Harsh.

Last Thursday, theaters nationwide launched a week-long re-release of “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. The film stands out not only for its stunning cinematography, one of a kind soundtrack, and compelling life-lessons, but also as the final “Star Wars” entry before progressive-infused Disney’s acquisition.

Walsh, apparently, did not recognize the exceptional film for what it is. After taking his children to see it in theaters, he took to X and attacked the movie.

I will now address his unfounded criticisms.

His first issue is with the film’s dialogue. Walsh claims “Revenge of the Sith” has “the worst dialogue he’s ever heard in a mainstream Hollywood film.” To support his claim, he quotes a romantic scene between Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala:

Anakin: You’re so beautiful

Padme: It’s only because I’m so in love

Anakin: No it’s because I’m so in love with you

Walsh leaves out the second half of the scene, which reveals the lines are not poorly written, but instead an intentional foreshadowing of what is to come later in the film. The scene continues;

Padme: So love has blinded you?

Anakin: Well, that’s not exactly what I meant.

Padme: But it’s probably true.

At this point in the film, Anakin believes his wife is going to die in childbirth because of a vision he has in his sleep. As the primary antagonist, Emperor Palpatine (not Ovaltine) tells him that committing to the Dark Side is the only way to save her. This, and his blinding love for Padme, leads him to commit the atrocities he does later in the film. Pure genius from George Lucas, who Walsh claims should be arrested.

Walsh’s next criticism of the film is that it has “abysmal action choreography.” To me, this attack is the most absurd.

The final fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi, master versus apprentice, is one of the most iconic fight scenes in cinema history. Numerous outlets such as WatchMojo, ScreenRant, and MovieWeb all rank the battle as one of the greatest sword fights in movie history. The fight was choreographed by legendary stuntman Ray Park, and is not sped up at all. Both actors trained relentlessly to master each move shown on camera.

Walsh specifically attacks the final move of the duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin, saying the following;

Anakin jumps and flips through the air like Spider-Man but then at the end he loses because the other guy is standing on a small hill and has the higher ground. This was for some reason an insurmountable strategic advantage, even though Anakin had just seconds earlier leaped like 20 feet in the air while doing flips like an Olympic gymnast. So then Anakin decides to jump directly over top the other guy, close enough that he can just casually reach up and cut his legs off. He could have jumped anywhere else on the hill, or just a little higher, and avoided this issue.

Like many things Walsh has criticized in the film, the seemingly risky move Anakin used was intentional. Young Anakin Skywalker was fascinated by his master Obi-Wan’s triumph over Darth Maul in “Episode I: The Phantom Menace.” To defeat Maul, Obi-Wan flipped over him and cut him in half upon landing.

When Anakin fights Obi-Wan, his pride and ego is at an all time high. He wants to prove to his once-master that he is now his superior. This is why moments before the final move, Anakin tells Obi-Wan, “You underestimate my power!”

Obi-Wan can sense Anakin is going to try his own move against him, so he offers one final warning, “Don’t try it.” Anakin did not listen, and ended up getting his legs cut off.

Walsh also criticized where the battle takes place, on a lava planet “for some reason.” He clearly suffers from a lack of knowledge in “Star Wars” lore. It’s the same reason he doesn’t understand why Anakin jumped over Obi-Wan.

The planet they fought on, Mustafar, is described by Wookiepedia as “powerful in the Dark Side of The Force.” Palpatine sent Anakin there so he could tap into the Dark Side more intensely as he slaughtered the separatists who were awaiting him. In the 2017 comic Darth Vader 5, Palpatine instructs Vader to return to Mustafar because it “is not like other planets. It is unique. Deep beneath its surface rests a locus for the Dark Side of The Force.”

Vader was so drawn to the planet’s Dark Side power that seven years after “Revenge of the Sith,” he built his castle, Fortress Vader, there.

Walsh’s final objection to the film was that it “took itself too seriously.” He expands on this by claiming “You can’t be campy and fun and also have mass child slaughter in the same film.”

Most of Walsh’s criticisms come from a lack of looking beneath the surface, taking everything at face value. “Revenge of the Sith” was always meant to be lighthearted in the beginning, and tragic in the end. After nearly three decades of fans left without a backstory, the purpose of the movie was to show how Hollywood’s most iconic villain, Darth Vader, transformed from a cunning warrior for good, to the embodiment of evil.

Following the classic hero’s journey literary archetype, we witness Anakin’s lighthearted upbringing in Episodes 1 and 2, his tragic fall in the second half of Episode 3, and his eventual redemption in Episode 6. A story that George Lucas brilliantly wrote and produced over 3 decades.

Walsh’s tweet thread ends on a lighter note, expressing that despite all of his concerns, his kids liked it. To me and countless other fans who believe “Revenge of the Sith” is one of the greatest films ever made, we can only hope Matt Walsh will read this piece and watch it again with an open mind.
